ICYMI: Standout Performers: The Fantastic 40 (Day 1)
Kerwin Walton (Hopkins/D1 Minnesota)
Offers from a slew of Division I programs including Kansas, Arizona, Iowa, Virginia Tech and Cal, 2020 Hopkins 6’5″ guard Kerwin Walton was rolling in a win over Team Parsons 17U. He had 25 first half points and wound up finishing with 37 points in total for D1 Minnesota. Walton was on fire in the opening half and was hurting the defense with his jumper. He holds his own and more defensively and is solid all around.
Jonathan Kuminga (NY Our Savior New American/Belmont Shores)
In an overtime win over Team Parsons 17U, 2021 6’8″ Our Savior New American forward Jonathan Kuminga proved why he is the No. 2 ranked 2021 ESPN prospect and No. 3 ranked 2021 Prep Hoops prospect. He had 22 points and saved his best for last in the victory. He is long, strong and insanely athletic and poised. Kuminga’s upside is through the roof. It makes so endless sense why Duke and Kentucky have offered this prospect.
Michael Eads (Edgewater/Team Parsons)
Always solid, 2020 6’5″ Edgewater guard Michael Eads had a reliable day with 21 points in both games on the day. He was hitting from deep at a high clip and was really providing energy for his side. Eads is an all-around scorer and a tough nosed defender. He’s vocal, determined and always locked in and looking to add points.
Moussa Cisse (NY Christ The King/Expressions Elite)
In a loss to Team Parsons 17U, 2021 6’11” Christ The King 6’11” Moussa Cisse is a towering presence. A big body, he had 21 points in the game and was cleaning up boards and throwing down two-handed dunks often. Cisse is coveted by many Division 1 programs because of his size first and foremost, but he has a strong upper body and a smart aggression about him.
CJ Hawkins (Berkeley Prep/Team Parsons)
Suiting up for Team Parsons 15U, 2022 6’6″ Berkeley Prep guard CJ Hawkins led his side with 19 points in a loss to Bay Area Sports. He was getting to the rack, drawing contact and creating for himself. Hawkins is a thick body who brings a lot of action to the game. Also, 2022 First Academy 5’11” guard Denzel Aberdeen showed off his outside shot with a 16-point game.
Javian McCollum (Fort Myers/Team Parsons SWFL)
In a late night victory against the Salt Lake Rebels, 2021 6’0″ Fort Myers guard Javian McCollum was getting in the paint more often than usual and he led his Team Parsons SWFL squad with 19 points. Known for his keen 3-point jumper, he was being aggressive and really putting his body on the line. McCollum is growing with each game and his leadership and IQ is right there.
Deebo Coleman & Marcus Niblack (E1T1)
For a mixed E1T1 group, 2021 6’5″ West Nassau guard Deebo Coleman and 2020 6’2″ Wildwood guard Marcus Niblack each recorded 11 points in an afternoon loss to I Can All Stars. Coleman is a lengthy point man who seems to always control the tempo and add his versatile attacks. Niblack is a bursty point man who loves to create for others and push the ball in transition often.
