In this series, we’ll be taking a look at some more recent transfers and what they will mean for both the player and the new team.
MARCHELUS AVERY | 6’6 F | VIRGINIA ACADEMY ’20
Currently ranked as a top-10 prospect in Virginia, Avery will arrive at VA Academy with high expectations. He should bring some excitement to a new-look program with his awesome blend of size, athleticism, and raw talent.
CHURCHILL BOUNDS | 6’9 C | BISHOP WALSH ’20
Bounds is a significant addition for the Spartans, who have acquired several key players this offseason. He is still unsigned and should gain valuable exposure while playing a national schedule. Expect Bounds to fortify the interior with his ability to score and initiate offense from the low post as well as rebound and defend.
MIASIAH BROWN | 6’2 G | WOODROW WILSON ’21
Considered one of the best on-ball defenders in the city, Brown’s transfer to Wilson has major implications for the outlook of the upcoming season. He will undoubtedly give the Tigers a huge boost in the backcourt with his unrelenting aggressiveness on both ends of the court.
CHASE COOK | 5’9 G | COOLIDGE ’21
Coolidge is emerging as a legit contender in the DCIAA, and Cook will likely get his opportunity to play big minutes. He’s a skilled and crafty lead guard who should put up big numbers for the Colts.
ELIJAH DAVIS | 6’0 G | ST. FRANCES ’22
Davis has reclassified into the 2022 class. He should certainly benefit from an additional year to develop physically and gain experience at the varsity level for a nationally ranked team.
