Klatt, a 6-foot-7 senior, averaged 10 points and six rebounds as a junior and spent the grassroots season playing with ECI, going against top big men from all over the Midwest. That experience helped him improve his game a great deal.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Klatt. “It opened up a lot of things for me. I feel like I played well. That competition is really good for me. I had to develop other parts of my game.”
Klatt has the size, athleticism and motor to be a high-impact two-way big. When his motor runs hot, he’s really productive. He runs the floor well, finishes at a high rate in traffic and can defend and rebound effectively. He’s athletic for a big man and has the strength and toughness to compete with the high-end bigs in the state.
“I think I do a good job rebounding and finishing,” said Klatt. “I want to continue improving my outside game.”
Klatt’s combination of size and athleticism makes him an intriguing college prospect and a number of schools particularly in the Dakotas have taken notice.
“Right now, I’ve talked to Minot, Dickinson, Jamestown, Black Hills and U Mary,” said Klatt. “I’ll tour Dickinson and Jamestown soon.”
