Recruiting Report: Nick Marshall (2021)
Nick Marshall could be one of the breakout players of the 2019-2020 campaign. The 6-foot-4 guard, who attends River Hill High School, is coming off a productive summer with on the grassroots circuit Team BBC and looks poised to carry that momentum with him throughout the upcoming season. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, Marshall discussed his overall game and recruitment among other topics.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
NM: “Crafty, I use my length to my advantage. I’m pretty athletic for a guard. I’m good at finishing over taller defenders. I can shoot the pull-up really well. I can knock down the three also. I consider myself a great passer. I can see more than taller guards can usually see.”
PH: What’s one thing you do on the court that might not show up on a stat sheet?
NM: “Making the extra pass. Sometimes it’s not always an assist, but just getting the person open. Talking on defense, there’s not a lot of people talking on defense. A lot of people slack. Just hustle plays, loose balls, stuff like that.”
PH: Who is recruiting you?
NM: “Loyola is my most recent offer. GW has kept in contact with me almost every day, Coach Nima. Yale has talked to me a lot. Georgetown is recently talking to my dad about me. Those are the main schools right now.”
PH: Which schools do you want to visit?
NM: “I know I’ll be taking visits to Fairfield, Loyola, George Washington, and Maryland so far.”
PH: What are your goals?
NM: “To be the best player I can be. Excel at what I do. Not everyone goes professional, but I just want to be the best at what I can do. What God gives me, everything like that. My goal is to play professional whether its overseas, G League, or NBA. Wherever God takes me.”
