JayShaun Freeman, a class of 2020 guard from Kent County, routinely put up locker-combo type stats during a rather productive junior campaign. As he prepares for what should be a flat-out monster senior season, Freeman is beginning to see a slight uptick in his recruitment, which could be a sign of things to come. He discussed his overall game, recruitment and much more during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, describe your game
JF: “For those who haven’t seen me play I would say ima a combo guard who can score from all three levels.”
PH: What was the transition like for you heading into AAU season from high school?
JF: “Transitioning from high school to AAU was pretty good. I knew I was going back to BBC, and I know my role on that team.”
PH: Describe one thing you do on the court that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet
JF: “Being able to lead, and putting guys in the right position.”
PH: What is the most improved part of your game in recent months?
JF: “My confidence and playing defense. Whether it’s talking more or playing better help defense.”
PH: What are you working on?
JF: “I’m mainly working on my overall game. I’ve been watching some film to see what I could do better in games.”
PH: Who’s recruiting you?
JF: “Recently UMES, Binghamton, UMBC, and Mount St. Mary’s.”
PH: Which schools have you visited? Which schools do you plan to/want to visit?
JF: “I visited Mount St Mary’s this past year when they played St. Francis. I would like to visit UMBC, UMES, Southern Utah and a few other schools.”
PH: What’s the timetable like for your recruitment?
JF: “My recruitment is completely open. Not making any decisions anytime soon.”
PH: What factors are important in your college decision?

PH: What can you bring to a college program?
JF: “I can bring a winning attitude to a program. I’m very selfless, very coachable and can get points in a hurry.”
