Recruiting Report: Christian Moore (2021)
No matter how the game of basketball changes within eras, scoring will always be a coveted skill when evaluating prospects. Christian Moore did plenty of that this spring and summer with Team Thrill on the UAA Circuit. As a result, more college programs are taking notice.
Ohio is the latest to offer Moore. He already held an offer back in 2017 and is looking to add more to that list after a productive July.
“This spring and summer was good for me with Team Thrill,” Moore told Prep Hoops. “I improved on my defensive and my point guard skills. I really don’t know how tall I’m going to be, so I have to develop that point guard mentality of getting players around me better as well.”
Moore currently attends Cape Henry Collegiate School in Virginia. The 6-foot-2 combo guard realizes that he needs to become stronger as a passer and facilitator, but for now, colleges are admiring the way he can shoot the ball.
In terms of goals this upcoming season, Moore told Prep Hoops that he is aiming to win Player of the Year. He also wants to win a state championship before he attends college, so winning this season would be ideal to put him in position to bring potentially two back to Cape Henry.
Picking up a facilitator mentality isn’t always easy, especially for a player with Moore’s scoring ability. He can score in a variety of ways, so there always seems to be a situation to take advantage of. If he uses his scoring threat to his advantage, it should bring plenty of opportunities his way to rack up assists with defenses being keyed on stopping him.
That is really the next progression of his development. As he matures physically, the mental part needs to be there as well. Talking with Moore, he’s aware of that. Now we just have to watch him showcase it.
