Remme was a key component of a Gain Elite team that won 19 of 33 games this spring and summer finishing up in the Adidas Finale and GPA. Blake had a 29 point game against Team Harden in that event of Adidas top teams and averaged 20 points across the board in those games.
“My summer has been going well also I’ve been working on my intangibles, like defense, rebounding, passing, communication, basketball IQ, etc.” Blake explained
“I’ve also been getting up a lot of shots so my senior season I can put up as much as I can on the offensive end, and match it with great defense as well. I feel playing against great competition in AAU has helped my game a lot because it made me more competitive, and it helped my defense and aggressiveness a lot.
“For Gain Elite I was happy about how our season went about. We had a lot of talented guys and competed every tournament in the Adidas Gauntlet and in the NY2LA circuit.”
Remme also spent a part of his summer at numerous different basketball camps.
“It was awesome going to camps!” Blake said. “Getting to know the coaches, the campus, and the team’s style of play really impacts my decision on where I might end up playing in college. And it’s always great to play against competitive and high level players.”
Speaking of college, where is Blake looking at for the next level? As a player that certainly is capable of getting a scholarship there is a nice group of schools in contact.
“A lot of NSIC schools are looking at me at the moment, like Minnesota-Duluth, Minnesota State, Minot State, Bemidji State, Sioux Falls, Northern State, and some D1 interest like Colorado State, North Dakota, NDSU, Air Force, and some Ivy league schools also like Brown,” Remme said.
Last year Spring Lake Park surprised teams with a win over ranked Eastview followed by a strong win over Osseo. These two victories moved the Panthers into the top ten early in the year with a 6-1 start. The Panthers faded but still finished four games over .500 despite being a young team. With five of the top six players back – Remme, Gabe Myren, Daydor Philips, Jacob Say, and Kaleb Skelley – expectations are high for the 2019-20 season.
“My high school team has been competing again high competition in the Breakdown tournaments and I feel we have been up there competing with the best. A lot of our guys have been putting in work in the offseason, in the gym getting up shots and working on the fundamentals and in the weight room,” Remme said.
“Our team over the years has gradually gotten better, and this year I think we have a shot at getting even better and competing in a section championship and getting to state. I’m excited to see how things play out.
“We have four seniors starters this year and we have all played together since around 6th grade so we have great chemistry together. We are getting a brand new court and jerseys this year also so we will look like a new team. We are also very athletic so i’m excited to see if we can run up and down the court in transition and make some highlight plays.”
Spring Lake Park has the talent to be a 20 win team. With experience and talent, it could be a special year.
