Drew Carter (2021 Tigard HS) – Carter was one of the few prospects in camp already holding an offer from the Vikings and the rising junior came ready to play. We only saw the 6-foot-2 guard in one game but he was rock-solid, making good decisions with the basketball and showing good form on his perimeter shot both on the catch-and-shoot and pull-up. Carter is an outstanding athlete and he was great in transition.
Darius Gakwasi (2021 Central Catholic HS) – We only got a chance to see Gakwasi in one game. In that contest, the 6-foot-5 rising junior got a chance to showcase his all-around skills, as he capably rebounded and handled the ball. Like many on Friday, his outside shot wasn’t falling but he was active in getting to the basket and getting others involved.
Jalen Grable (2021 Westview HS) – Grable was one of the high risers in the Class of 2021 this off-season. The 6-foot-4 swingman seemed a bit tentative at camp but showed flashes. He was very active on the offensive glass and while he struggled at times to finish, the motor to battle was there and the overall athleticism was evident. There’s no doubt he will need to continue developing his outside shooting and ball-handling to enhance his perimeter game.
Brandon Hopson (2021 Roosevelt HS) – Unfortunately Hopson didn’t shoot it as well from the outside as we’ve seen him do all summer. He also had some struggles finishing in the half-court setting but the 6-foot guard was great in transition and made good decisions finding teammates on the break. His overall handle was also relatively turnover free while creative at the same time.
Esyah Pippa-White (2023 Gresham HS) – We have been asked if we think that Pippa-White can contribute immediately at the varsity level and based on the way he played at Elite Camp, the answer would be yes. The 5-foot-11 rising freshman played confidently with the ball, making drives to the basket scoring it himself or dishing it off to others. He nailed some jumpers and was solid on D.
