He is a big time shooter from three and we also like his pull up game as he can stop and pop on a dime. Gets elevation off the floor. Gets out in transition and shows a burst on his first step.
Schutt ran with the Illinois Wolves on the UAA circuit where he regularly saw time playing up an age level on the 16U squad.
“It went really well. A lot of really good players there and a lot of teaching moments. I thought I played well. I shot the ball well and played my role. Our team did well.”
What areas of his game did he see the most growth as a player over the summer?
“Getting my shot off and being quicker and more accurate with it.”
The June period with his high school team was a growing experience playing against quality competition.
“We had a good experience. We went .500, but we played some 4A schools for being a 1A schools. We were competitive and I am looking forward to the high school season.”
Over the weekend Schutt participated in the UIC Elite Camp where he was one of the standout performers receiving and offer from the Flames.
“The camp went good. A lot of good drills and good mentors.”
Schutt projects as one of the best in the Illinois 2022 class early on currently checking in at #4 overall in 2022 and the top wing in his class.
