Today we speak with Travas Tucker of Illinois Badgers breaking down their top players, accomplishments, and favorite moments from the PrepHoops Circuit!
How did your program perform on the inaugural PrepHoops Circuit this spring and summer?
It was a brand new team. The kids really started to gel by the end of the year. The team did better than what I expected.
Highlight a few of your program’s accomplishments on the PrepHoops Circuit?
Learning to play fundamental defense and offense.
Which PrepHoops Circuit event did you enjoy the most and why?
Chicago. All around was a great tournament. Beautiful city. Everyone loves Chicago.
Who were the top performers in your program this summer on the PrepHoops Circuit and tell us why?
Cle Phipps. A great scorer coming into the summer, but really played great team ball by the end of the year. He started to work off the ball to get better shot attempts.
Trenton Tucker is just a guard dog. If he is guarding you expect to only score in single digits. As a point guard he is able to get the offense started, even with high pressure defense.
Malaki Willingham came in as an ok shooter. By the end of the year he was hitting around 75% of his shots. A kid that is very coachable and plays great defense.
What players are you excited about for next year’s PrepHoops Circuit squad?
The whole team is coming back. They will be a tough team to beat.
What did you enjoy most about participating in the PrepHoops Circuit?
Being a mentor to every kid. Playing against good competition.
