Brian Mathews (HIT 16U)
Mathews is the #2 center in the class with his physical strength and size. The skill continues to improve each time we see him. Soft touch around the hoop and rebounds really well in traffic.
Shaun Riley (Southwest Jets 16U)
The O’Fallon power forward is a mobile four that rebounds very well, is efficient with his touches, and plays well from the mid-range either shooting or taking his opponent off the bounce.
Cooper Bridges (Team RWA 17U)
Bridges is one of the better shooters in the class. Plus catch and shoot guy who is a tough competitor doing the little things well for his squad.
Sam Silverstein (Fundamental U 17U)
The former New Trier wing is headed to prep school before he goes to college at Harvard. Looked like a D1 prospect in July with how he has added strength and regularly finished at the cup with either hand.
Connor Linke (Fundamental U 17U)
It has been a big couple months for the St. Charles North center. He is playing with a lot of confidence and it shows through in his rebounding and scoring down low when given touches. Quality screener and passer.
Luke Scheffers (Fundamental U 17U)
Scheffers is a high IQ point guard that works excellent around ball screens and consistently made plays in the lane as a distributor or nailing runners.
Devin Davis (Young & Reckless 17U)
Davis had a nice closing performance throughout the month of July. The Westinghouse point guard can really score it when he shoots as well as he did in Chicago and Minnesota.
Michael Ousley (Capital City Teamwork 16U)
Ousley was impressive in the first game of the Hard Work Region Finals against Wisconsin Rap. The central Illinois two guard was a smooth scorer off the bounce. Got to the rim with regularity. The rising junior also knocked down several shots from the mid-range in his standout performance on opening night.
Martice Mitchell (Young & Reckless 17U)
Mitchell played really hard at the Finals on both ends of the floor. The state’s top five man runs the floor with ease, protects the rim, and has a high skill level. When he is as engaged as he was there he is the best big in the state. Wish his team would have got him more touches on the block.
Pee Wee Brown (Peoria Area Elite 17U)
Brown came up big for PAE in their 4 OT win against HIT in the Finals. This Peoria Manual two guard is a slick scorer who comes up big in key moments for his team. Slippery through traffic and does most of his damage scoring off the dribble and with short jumpers. Carried his team throughout the PHC.
RJ Walker (Capital City Teamwork 16U)
Walker has been a prospect known to central Illinois basketball fans for a while with his strong first two seasons for Decatur Eisenhower. He played well on a big stage at the Hard Work Finals for Capital City Teamwork. Scoring point guard that has range on his shot, gets out in transition, and is active getting in passing lanes.
Luke Moustakas (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
This Brother Rice power forward is trending as one of the better posts in the 2021 class. Face up four that stretches the floor with his shooting. Improving his athleticism as he can score in transition and rebounded well in traffic.
Christian Shumate (Young & Reckless 17U)
Shumate was a consistent performer for Y&R during the spring and summer. The bouncy combo forward from Bloom used his athleticism to slash to the hoop, rim ran in transition, and used his athleticism on the glass to get second chance points.
Moory Woods (Gateway Illinois 17U)
This Alton shooting guard has had a strong last couple months. High energy wing that finishes acrobatic layups, gets on the glass, and can hit open shots. Primed to take over as the go to guy for Alton.
Christian Czerniak (All-In Athletics 17U)
Creative passer that has a flair for the game. All June and July he did a nice job of getting others involved with his distribution skills. Also a sound jump shooter that knocked them down from three.
Andrew Johnson (Illinois T-Wolves 16U)
Johnson is a scoring wing that does it in a variety of ways. Quick moves off the dribble where he draws contact. Likes to attack on the baseline. Active rebounder.
Quani Rudd (Southwest Jets 16U)
The southern Illinois prospect from Mt. Vernon High School is primed for a breakout season. He has freakish athleticism and the skill is starting to come along. Explosive slasher with the ball in his hands. High-points rebounds in traffic. Finishes well in the pick and roll. Defensively he was a beast swatting shots and defending on the perimeter.
Jamarkus Gary (Southwest Jets 16U)
Another Alton prospect to track going forward is Gary who was the go to guy for the Southwest Jets Blue squad. Got to the foul line at a high rate and scored in the paint with regularity.
Trent Howland (Young & Reckless 16U)
Howland is a tough and gritty glue guy that showed there is more to his game in Minnesota. The Joliet West wing went for 20 points against Team MORE on Saturday. He has a physical body at the small forward spot and loves to use runners in the lane. Can hit a three every now and then. Uses his physicality on the defensive end and glass.
Chase Monkemeyer (IBA Mann 17U)
Monkemeyer shined for IBA in Minnesota with his three point shooting. Moves well without the basketball and has a crisp and concise three point shot. Mixes in slashes every now and then.
Billy Durkin (ET21 Buckeyes 17U)
Durkin is a high-motor wing that plays with reckless abandon. Durkin has a nose for the basketball. Plus three point shooter that also crashes the glass for second chance points.
