Continue ReadingIt was quite a first year on the PrepHoops Circuit! Teams and players from all over the country played in quality tournaments and got exposure. We have already handed out the Hard Work All-Region Teams. Let’s focus on just the Illinois squads. Here are our PrepHoops Circuit All-Illinois 17U Teams!
17U 1st Team
Rolondo “Pee Wee” Brown (Peoria Area Elite 17U)
What can we saw about Pee Wee that we haven’t already talked about all summer. He is just a flat out winner! The Peoria Manual wing put his team on his back leading them to a championship in Indy and the top seed heading into the finals!
Jayden Johnson (Fundamental U 17U)
Johnson is one of the best wing prospects in the state and his play on the PHC did nothing to diminish that. Elite shooter that had a few epic shooting performances from three including taking out Wisconsin Playground twice!
Keshawn Williams (Young & Reckless 17U)
Williams is an athletic two guard that showed he could play more on the ball on the PHC. Three level scorer with such a fluid and smooth game. The Bloom star established himself as the #3 prospect in the state after his play in the spring.
Connor Kochera (Fundamental U 17U)
Kochera was a huge stock riser seeing his recruitment soar after a strong spring and summer. Skilled wing that can play both with the ball in his hands as well as moving without it to get open. High level shot maker and has basketball smarts!
Beau Frericks (Team RWA 17U)
Frericks was the definition of consistent! Each and every event the Cary Grove wing was drilling threes over and over again! You knew that this kid was going to bring it each and every time out!
17U 2nd Team
Ray’Sean Taylor (Gateway Illinois17U)
Taylor is one of the best point guards in the state of Illinois’ senior class. The scoring guard from Collinsville put his team on his back in multiple games carrying them to wins. Multiple level scorer that can also get others involved.
Dominic Martinelli (All-In Gold 17U)
The more you watch this combo forward the more you begin to appreciate what he brings to the table. Might not be the most athletic or explosive, but with his slow mo game nobody on the PHC locked him down!
Kyndall Davis (All-In Gold 17U)
Davis broke out with a strong spring and summer for AIA. The Bogan wing has positional size and plus athleticism. His all-around game came into its own over the course of the PHC. His recruitment has soared as will his ranking!
Marcus Skeete (HIT 17U)
Skeete is a big bodied wing that displayed more to his game than we had seen in the past. Slimmed down and became more mobile on the perimeter. Still used bully ball to score on drives, but also hit jumpers with regularity from the perimeter.
Armond Williams (Southwest Jets 17U)
Williams is primed for a breakout senior season. That was set up by what he did with the Southwest Jets on the PrepHoops Circuit. Long and lanky five man who is a rim runner with improving skill. Defensively he is a force with his mobility swatting shots and covering ground with his length.
17U 3rd Team
Taurean Holtam (QC Ballers 17U)
Holtam broke out with his play for QC Ballers. Made a name for himself in May at Battle at the Lakes averaging over 35 points a game for the event. Broad shouldered 6’5” small forward that can attack downhill and rebounds well for a wing.
Ryan Isaacson (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
Prototype pick and pop four man for today’s game. That is what this Hinsdale Central product brings to the table. Stretches the floor with his shooting and can put it on the deck at times scoring off the bounce. Improving his toughness and scoring around the hoop.
Paul Zilinskas (ET21 Buckeyes 17U)
This Riverside Brookfield small forward is a skilled scorer that improved athletically and with his handles to become a more diverse playmaker. Always a plus shooter he sniped from deep, but it was his all-around game that impressed us the most!
RJ Ogom (All-In Gold 17U)
Ogom put together a monster spring and summer on the PrepHoops Circuit. A huge reason for that was his high end motor. The Homewood Flossmoor post is a tenacious rebounder that plays with strength on the boards and gets second chance points because of it.
Caleb Zurliene (Illinois Bears 17U)
Zurliene remains one of the most under recruited prospects in the class. The southern Illinois 6’4” two guard can score from all three levels with skill and athleticism. Elite three point shooter who can also play above the rim!
17U 4th Team
CJ Nwosu (Full Package 17U)
Nwosu was one of the surprises of the spring. This Von Steuben shooting guard brings strength, athleticism, and tenacity to the table on both ends of the floor. Offensively he is at his best when he puts his head down and gets to the rim!
Myriece Byrd (Peoria Area Elite 17U)
Byrd was a great running mate for Pee Wee Brown for PAE. As the point guard he did an excellent job of setting everyone up, putting pressure on opposing point guards, and scoring with his deep ball when given the chance!
Sincere Callwood (ET21 Buckeyes 17U)
Callwood is going to have to be a major presence for Simeon this year and he showed during the summer he is up to the task. Physical five man that rebounds with physicality getting second chance points while also playing tough post defense.
Sam Schultz (HIT 17U)
Schultz is a player that can score both facing up and on the block. Broad shouldered post that has a nice skill level on the block and underrated athleticism. Quality area rebounder and a decent post passer.
Dante Maddox (Young & Reckless 17U)
Maddox is a microwave scorer that can get hot in a hurry from beyond the arc. He did that on multiple occasions during the spring and summer for his Y&R squad! One of the best pure scorers in the 2020 class.
17U 5th Team
Lashawn Johnson (Southwest Jets 17U)
Johnson is an athletic two guard that brings versatility on the defensive end. Offensively he is best getting out in transition where he plays above the rim. Improving his three point shot from a consistency standpoint.
Carson Parker (Illinois Bears)
The McKendree commit is just a smooth two guard that scores in a variety of ways. Feathery pull up jump shot from mid-range and three. Has a passing feel as well from the off guard spot.
Grant Niego (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
Niego brings toughness and grit to the table! Made growth as a scorer which was shown in July with how he scored it with his pull up shooting. His distribution skills are still his strength along with his leadership!
Martice Mitchell (Young & Reckless 17U)
Mitchell is the top center in the state and his play with Young & Reckless in July solidified that! The high-major target is a long and lanky post that runs the floor, swats shots, and rebounds.
Davis Walker (Team RWA 17U)
Walker is a scoring combo guard that showed he could play more on the ball at the point than we had seen in the past. Combining that with his scoring prowess on drives and threes made him an impact player for RWA.
