Devin Perry, Keystone Prep – Devin came and competed at the Expo before moving to Florida this week. Perry is a prototypical pass first PG who can read a ball screen and attack off it, make open shots and guard the opposing point guard. It will be interesting to see how the move to a prep school in Florida affects his recruitment. There’s no doubt he can play college basketball.
Grant Profitt, Scott – Profitt scorched the nets all day at the Expo and looked much better Saturday than he looked on multiple viewings with his Scott team this summer. Grant scored at the rim and was electric from 3, impressing everyone in the gym. Look for him to have some big scoring games this season.
Jaden Rogers, Fern Creek – Jaden is one of the best players in Kentucky, regardless of class. He showed the full offensive arsenal on Saturday while playing on and off the ball. He scored when he wanted and got wherever he wanted with the ball. Don’t be surprised if Rogers winds up being a high major recruit by this time next year.
Brendan Shene, DuPont Manual – Shene showed up to the Expo Sunday hoping to work his way on to the radar for a potential future ranking and that’s what he did. Brendan competed well against older players and knocked down timely jump shots when his team needed them.
Tyler Slone, Oldham County – Tyler is known for his shooting abilities but his most impressive play on Saturday was when he took off and tried to dunk on an opposing player late in the day. If Slone can find that aggressiveness all the time, he can take his game up to a whole different level.
Jayden Smith, Berea – Like his Berea teammates, Jayden was solid all afternoon. He plays very hard and was competitive each game out. Smith even was battling for a loose ball with his teammate Joseph Hill as the final buzzer sounded to end the event.
DeAjuan Stepp, West Jessamine – One of the best performers at camp on Saturday, Stepp was really in his bag. He scored the ball at every level and affected the game in multiple ways. Dee showed parts of his game that he hasn’t always displayed in the past. An improved jump shot made him very hard to guard.
Darrius Washington, Fern Creek – The other Co-MVP of the event, Darrius did exactly what you want to see out of him. He rebounded well and finished everything with authority. What he showed in his skill set is what really set him apart from some of his peers. You don’t see many 6’7 posts who can push the break and find open teammates.
Eli Wilkes, Union County – Eli showed off high level passing skills and is the unselfish type of player that coaches love to have on their team. Although he never forced his offense, Wilkes attacked the rim when he had opportunities and knocked down enough open shots to keep defenders honest.
