Cole Burch, Daviess County – One of the most impressive 2023s at the Expo. Burch scored the ball inside and out all day long. Look for him to be a contributor for the Panthers this season.
Isaiah Cook, Eastern – One of the best point guards at camp regardless of class, Cook is a silky smooth point guard with a good handle and vision. Eastern’s 2022 class is loaded ahead of him but it will be hard to keep Cook off the floor for the Eagles.
Nolan Fulton, Mayfield – Lots of potential for the long freshman. He used his length to score around the basket and even blocked a couple of shots. He’s got to get a little tougher and play a little harder consistently but he’s got a chance, especially if he continues growing.
Demarcco Gammons, Mayfield – Big and stocky, Gammons took a little while to find the flow of the games as the pace was very fast, especially early. But Demarcco doesn’t shy away from physical contact at all and that alone should help him see the floor this season.
Cole Mills, Mayfield – Another solid point guard in the group, Cole showed he can play on or off the ball and made some crafty finishes around the basket. Moving forward, Mills needs to do more to affect the game through rebounding and making the extra pass.
Jack Payne, Daviess County – Payne started hot with 5 made threes in his first game but after that he cooled down a little bit. Jack is crafty and flashed a high IQ but will need to start finishing through contact if he wants to be a varsity contributor this season.
JB Piatt, Adair County – Piatt could pass as a Junior or Senior when you look at him. He did a little bit of everything on Saturday and should be one of the better freshmen in the 5th region. Look for him to start varsity for Adair this season.
Christopher Walls, Trinity – Walls is the type of kid who will sit at Trinity for a year or two then when he’s a Junior, folks will be asking where he came from. Chris plays hard and is skilled with good size. The type of kid who can effect the game in a lot of ways.
Chase Wiehebrink, Eastern – The smallest camper we saw was also one of the best shooters. I was a little surprised when he was pulling up from NBA range without hesitation and even more surprised when he was hitting them. File his name away for later as an impact player in the 7th region.
