These freshman and parents got to experience a great camp atmosphere with guest speakers from all aspects of basketball. There was a total of 50 student-athletes who participated.
This is the new faces edition. Players whom I’ve never seen before, but left a big impact and will be nice to follow over there High School years to see there progress.
Ma’syn Howell 5’11 PG • 2023 • Legacy School of Sports Science
Plays poised and under control. He was able to get in the paint and finished well around the rim. He had some tough finishes and has solid lateral movement. Good motor offensively with and without the ball in his hands. He is a modern point guard who gives Legacy a solid building piece for the future.
Kevin Jaurez 6’5 PF • 2023 • Houston Milby HS
Old school post player who has a knack to finish at a super high rate around the rim. Anything in the paint he dominated on both sides of the ball. Has good strength with good hands and a soft touch. Also cleaned up on the glass. Set solid screens which you don’t see much of in a camp setting. Should provide some spark down low for Milby High School.
Brycen Matthews 5’5 PG • 2023 • Houston Strake Jesuit HS
This was my first time seeing this prospect and he left with a good impression. His game was consistent and didn’t change. He controlled the pace offensively and has a quick first step. Nice floor vision and can score the ball at all levels. He is a pass first point in whom I would love to see in a pick and roll setting. I will be watching this prospect over the next few years to see how his body and game develops.
Tyshawn Archie 5’9 PG • 2023
He is a Shooters Shooter. He always looks to unload from deep when he touches the ball. Has good triple threat moves that were very effective, which allowed him to create separation from deep for his signature deep ball. Scrappy defender who was pesky when guarding his opponent.
Broderick Jackson 6’1 WG • 2023 • Dickinson HS
This young prospect came alive on Day 2 of the Camp and he was getting buckets. Runs the lanes very well in transition. Steps up to stop opponents on the defensive transition as well. Finished well around the rim. Interested to see how tall this prospect grows. Right now is a bit undersized for his position. If he adds 4 to 5 inches over the course of his high school career he will be a force on the court. Still has great skill set and is a fundamentally sound player.
Jesse Fuller 6’4 SG • 2023 • Tomball HS
Jesse shocked me game after game as he got up for dunks. He has some sneaky bounce in his game. You would not expect it from him with how well he shots the ball. He even tried to put a defender in the rim a couple of times while on a transition break. He should make the Varsity squad for the Cougars who went 16-16 last year and 8-8 in district play missing the playoffs by one game.
