There was a lot of 3-3 and 4-4 for the first hour with some intense 5-5 in the last hour. The names below are prospects in the 2021 Class who impressed with big days.
Matthew Stone 2021 Kingfisher Wing
Already holding offers from Oklahoma State and Tulsa Stone entered camp at OU on a mission. The poise he plays with on the floor picking his spots to attack was interesting to see. The feel of the game for Stone has remarkably improved. More NCAA Division I offers will pour in over the next year for Stone. Why? Because he can flat out fill it up shooting the basketball. Not to mention he continues to grow taller each time I see him. Stone has a bright future ahead of him.
Sean Pedulla 2021 Edmond Memorial Point Guard
Over the summer Pedulla started to turn heads with Team Buddy Buckets. If you paid attention this summer you are well aware Pedulla is the real deal. He validated himself even more at OU Team Camp scoring in double digits each game very efficiently. What I love about Pedulla is he seeks out the best player on the other team to intentionally guard him. Pedulla is going to end up at the MM+ NCAA Division I level. Shooting the rock is the specialty of Pedulla. However, if you dissect his game one of the best things offensively Pedulla brings to the table is a sweet hesitation dribble followed by his sneaky quickness to blow past defenders. Pedulla is a gamer and set for a monster year at Edmond Memorial.
Trey Alexander 2021 Heritage Hall Point Guard
Following a huge summer, Trey Alexander walked into the Oklahoma gym with supreme confidence. Ball handling is one of the most improved areas of the game of Alexander. Court vision is another area of his game that has grown leaps and bounds. One thing Alexander has always had a knack for is making tough shots. Going against some good guards from around the region Alexander showed off his talents with several closely guarded shots finding the bottom of the net. Alexander is a clear cut High Major recruit. The next year of development will be fun to see as he has an opportunity to go from a top 50 national guy to a top 25 prospect.
Bijan Cortes 2021 Kingfisher Point Guard
Over the summer Cortes captured a Peach Jam Championship with Team Griffin where he played a different role than he has ever had in the past. As he was more off the ball Cortes had to find different ways to be effective for his team. It is clear that has benefited him with how he moves without the basketball. The biggest thing holding Cortes back at this point is confidence in his jumper. There are clear times he hesitates before shooting. All of that said he knocked down a pair of big three-pointer in five on five. As he starts to buy into him being able to shoot it and continue to work on it lookout. As one has come to expect Cortes passed the ball brilliantly finding teammates in perfect spots all day long. The motor of Cortes is also starting to increase. The battle between Phipps and Cortes was fun to watch. Cortes is going to be a bright spot to watch in the very talented Oklahoma 2021 Class.
Tobias Roland 2021 Putnam City North Wing
Early in the basketball career of Roland most of his time was spent in the paint. The last two years we have seen him adjust his focus to playing on the Wing, handling the ball better, and shooting more consistent with his jumper. Roland showed several positive signs at OU Elite Camp. The physical strength of Roland helps him to be strong with the ball in his hands. The jump shot of Roland is still a work in progress but has come a long way. In making the transition from the Post to the Wing long term it will be the best thing from Roland. He already holds an offer from Tulsa and I would look for more to come his way at the Mid Major+ level over the next calendar year.
Keyondre Young 2021 Del City Wing
The frame and length of Young are super intriguing. At OU Elite Camp he did some positive things. We will be keeping a close eye to see what kind of year he has at Del City in Class 5A.
