Here’s our top offensive performances from Sunday:
Bryce Bouwman (2020 Lynden Christian WA)
Bouwman, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard for Lynden, WA, was probably the camps top scorer. Using his well-rounded skill set, Bouwman failed to expose any glaring weaknesses on offense. Throughout the day, Bouwman handled the ball well in addition to knocking down a few contested threes to impress coaches. Furthermore, the two-guard played with a great feel and made a few fantastic passes to free up his teammates as well.
Demarcus Best (2020 Oregon City)
Despite having to leave early for WOU elite camp, Best got his chance to show off his talent as both a floor general and a scorer on Sunday. On multiple occasions, Best used his legs to lead the break for easy buckets at the rim. His hangtime inside allowed him to find teammates inside as well as finish some plays off himself.
Chris Butcher (Blue Mountain CC)
Butcher played with fire all day, and similar to Best, led the charge with his legs in transition. The JUCO prospect showed a very fast first step, which allowed him to take the game over on multiple occasions. Butcher was probably the flashiest player on the court, which proved to be a blessing and a curse for the intense competitor.
Kainoa Mayo (Valley Christian CA)
As another out-of-state prospect, Mayo was a pleasant surprise, particularly on the offensive glass. Despite being undersized for the trenches at only 6-foot-2, Mayo swooped in for numerous hard-fought offensive boards that turned into easy second chance buckets. Mayo repeatedly rewarded his own hustle with steady finishing inside.
