Here’s our top defensive performances from Sunday:
JJ Anderson (2020 Marist Catholic)
Anderson, a 6-foot Guard with quick feet and a calm demeanor, was certainly the best on-ball defender of the afternoon. His ability to telegraph and stay in front of offensive players was on clear display, and some well-timed reach in steals had other guards under duress throughout the day.
Grant Dunn (2020 Silverton)
The skilled shooter was struggling to find his rhythm from deep, but he proved very serviceable on defense due to his solid length and ability to get vertical at the rim. Dunn is pretty slight, but his long arms still altered lots of shots at the rim against players of all sizes.
Chris Butcher (Blue Mountain CC)
As the only JUCO prospect in the camp, Butcher was at a slight advantage on Saturday, but his athleticism was standalone once Demarcus Best departed early. Butcher is very quick, and at times has the ability to seemingly flick a switch and summon a tremendous defensive intensity. During these moments, Butcher was practically a brick wall on the perimeter.
