As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Who will be the top-five scorers in Maryland this season? Below we highlight five players who should have a good shot.
RYAN CONWAY | DULANEY ’21
As we saw on the EYBL, Conway is one of the most efficient scorers in the country. He converts efficiently from the field and from three, but also gets to the line a ton where he also shoots it extremely well. Conway will have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders this season, but he should be up to the task.
ANDRES FRYE | MCLEAN SCHOOL ’20
Frye was the leading scorer in the DC Metro Area last season with an average of over 27 points per game. He is not a prolific three-point shooter, but should once again dominate his league because of his size and athleticism.
JAO ITUKA | GAITHERSBURG ’21
During another productive season for the Trojans, Ituka pumped in nearly 25 points per game, good enough to put him in the top five among others from the DC Metro Area. With Jordan Hawkins leaving for DeMatha, Ituka will likely have a higher usage rate and this could mean even bigger numbers this season.
JAKAI ROBINSON | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ’21
Robinson has quietly put together two productive high school seasons for Trevor Brown at National Christian. After dominating down at Peach Jam with Team Takeover, he is heading into the season with a ton of momentum and should be able to continue his high-level of productivity.
MOHAMED TOURE | SANDY SPRING ’21
Toure scored 20 or more points seven times last season, including a two 30 point games and his season high of 34. He closed out his sophomore campaign in style, scoring in double figures for the final eight games. Toure is a more than capable shot maker from the perimeter at 6-foot-6, and looks prepared to embrace a bigger role moving forward.
