2021
Levi Banks 6’0″ Pattonville: A slick lefty point guard who was very impressive in the drills and in the scrimmages as well. His handles were tight and he kept defenders off balance with his ability to change speeds and directions to get to the basket. He also knocked down open jumpers from 3-point range and dropped some nice dimes. He was a revelation to me.
Brock Wakefield 6’3″ South Iron: The lean sniper was one of the more impressive young bucket-getters that I watched during the day, which isn’t surprising because that’s what he does. He displayed his deep range from 3-point distance and the ability to create his own shots off the dribble when defenders went out to defend him.
Jayden Winfield 6’4″ Chaminade: An athletic wing player with very good size and the ability to score at all three levels. He plays under control and with good fundamentals with his ball handling and passing ability. He gets good elevation on his mid-range jumper and he can also get to the rim.
Brendan Deters 6’2″ Troy: A solid young point guard who is very crafty in his movements and how he handles the basketball. He has the ability to stop and go and maneuver through traffic to make plays happens. He is also a dependable 3-pointer with the ability to stop and pop from the mid-range.
Marlon Owens 5’9″ McCluer North: A small guard who plays with an aggressive and fearless style which serves him well. He’s quick and he wasn’t afraid to attack the basket. He had some pretty good finishes in traffic. He is also a solid defender who will harass ball handlers.
Eddie Simon 6’3″ Whitfield: A tough wing player who was very effective when he was attacking the basket. He’s strong and very aggressive and got good results for his efforts. He plays with a high motor at both ends of the court, which I also like.
Jackson Neidenbach 6’0″ DeSmet: Solid young guard who did a good job of shooting the basketball from 3-point range in the drills and in the scrimmages. He was very good off the catch and he also was very effective at moving without the basketball.
2022
Brian Taylor 6’2″ DeSmet: A talented young combo guard who has the athleticism and length to be an elite defender. He was picking the pockets of ball handlers and getting into the passing lanes. Just disruptive. He is a nice ball handler who can slash to the basket and make plays for others with his high basketball IQ.
Kellen Thames 6’0″ Pattonville: Talented young guard who can really shoot the ball from 3-point range, but he also has some slick handles and passing ability to go with it. He flashed some nice slight of hand moves off the dribble which had defenders flummoxed.
Brennan Lovette 6’4″ DeSmet: A nice-sized wing with good fundamentals and a versatile skill set. He is very solid with the ball as a scorer, ball handler and passer. He shoots the ball well and makes good decisions with the ball. He plays with a lot of confidence.
