Every time I see McDonald, he continues to check off the boxes that point to him being a high major player in the future. In the very first game, he started off slow, but when the game was close to end the 1st half, he went on a 15-0 run by himself, shooting from NBA range off the dribble, and converting an and-one. From there on, he went off all day.
Javari Williams 6’0 Huntington
The biggest takeaway I had from camp on Williams is just how naturally the game look like it came to him. He has incredible feel, and as a result made the game look easy. I thought that his team went as he went, and when he really got himself going, his team played at their best.
Daniel Ortiz 6’1 Southwood
A camp like this is the perfect environment for a player like Ortiz. He was able to steadily attack downhill and simply bully his way to the cup and the defense was either too small or too slow to stop him. He is a pretty good passer when attacking, and has a good feel for exactly where the help defense is coming from to carve them up. I also thought his jump shot looked improved from when I have seen it in the past.
Claudell Harris 6’2 Hahnville
Everytime I see Harris play, I am more and more impressed with the way that he continues to expand his game. In the past, I saw him mostly as just a good shooter, but he showed that he is capable of more than that. He has a pretty shifty game, which leads to him being able to get to his spots really well, and finish some tough shots.
Gavin Harris 6’2 St. Amant
Harris definitely looks and plays like he is playing out of St. Amant. He is a bouncy combo guard that isn’t afraid to put guys in the rim. He was a really good finisher in the paint, and made some really tough shots around the rim.
