The camp, which was presented by Recruit Looks, also featured several excellent players from Metro East Illinois just outside of St. Louis. Here is a look at those top metro east players at the first day of the camp on Saturday.
Ray’Sean Taylor 6’1 Collinsville (’20): A scoring point guard who was one of the best at attacking the basket and making plays through traffic and contact. He knows how to draw contact and still get buckets through his strength and resourcefulness around the basket.
Armond Williams 6’8″ East St. Louis (’20): The long athletic combo forward is a matchup problem with his size and versatile skill level on the perimeter. He has nice handles and can knock down a 3-pointer off the catch plus he had some nice takes off the dribble which led to some resounding dunks. He length was also a factor on the defensive end as a shot blocker.
Lashawn Johnson 6’4″ East St. Louis (’20): The slashing wing player was very effective at attacking the basket throughout the day. He displayed a quick first step to get by defenders which led to some explosive finishes at the rim. He is an excellent playmaker who can also drop dimes to open teammates.
Ethyn Brown 6’1″ Belleville East (’21): A strong, physical point guard who plays a very controlled game that is very effective. He is sound defensive player and a nice playmaker on the offensive end who will find open teammates and knock down open jumpers.
Moory Woods 6’4″ Alton (’20): The talented wing player did a good job of producing buckets without having the ball in his hands a lot. He was very good at cutting to the basket to get open and getting out to run in transition.
Shun Riley 6’7″ O’Fallon (’21): The long lefty power forward turned an ankle and didn’t get to participate in the scrimmages, but he looked very good during the skills and drills session. He showed some good bounce around the rim as a rebounder and shot blocker, plus he can put it on the floor and knock down a mid-range jumper.
