Brennan Watkins 5’10” Marcus Denmon Elite (Kearney): A very skilled offensive player who helped lead his team to the championship game of the 16U division. He is equally capable of playing with the ball and off the ball, where he is dangerous with his constant movement and ability to utilize screens to get himself open. He is an excellent 3-point shooter who can get to the basket while going in both directions.
Tyliek Moore 5’6″ SEMO Bulls (Hayti): A quick little point guard who did a nice job in the 17U tournament as a sparkplug and shot-maker for his team. Despite being the smallest player on the floor, he is fearless as he constantly got into the lane and took it to the trees. He finished more often and not and he hit his share of perimeter jumpers to compliment his dribble penetrations.
Quran Taylor 6’1″ Marcus Denmon Elite (University Academy): A strong lead guard who was tough to stop when he was able to get downhill off the high screen and to the basket. He was tough physically and could finish through contact. I saw his hit a few more 3-pointers during the tournament, which makes him more difficult to defend.
Luther Burden 6’0″ Brad Beal Elite (Cardinal Ritter): A tough, physical combo guard who had a big performance in the championship game as BBE raced to the 16U title. A top wide receiver prospect in football, he uses that toughness on the basketball court with his bullying drives to the basket and strong finishes. He also hit a number of pull up jumpers while playing excellent defense.
Colby Baggett 6’2″ Team YOBO (Lee’s Summit West): A slim point guard who does a good job as a facilitator with his passing ability and high basketball IQ. He has good handles and he knows how to maneuver in tight spaces to get where he wants to go. He is good when he’s on the move and getting to the basket whether he’s hitting a pull up jumper or dropping a dime to an open teammates.
