Evan Guillory 6’3″ KC Run GMC (Joplin): The dynamic power wing plays the game with a lot of force and explosiveness and he helped lead his team to the 17U championship over the weekend. He attacks the basket with authority and it usually ended up with a strong finish at the rim, a dunk over somebody or a three-point play. He also got into the lane and set up open teammates with some nice dimes as well. He is just as strong on the defensive end, where he can guard multiple positions.
Ben Palacios 6’5″ Marcus Denmon Elite (St. Michael’s): An excellent wing guard who plays well off of his teammates with his ability to move without the basketball. He is an very good 3-point shooter off the catch, which he adds to this team full of talented slashing guards. He is a very good cutter who gets his share of layups with his movement. His skill-set with the ball is also good as a ball handler and passer. He picked up an offer from Drury University during the weekend.
D’Anthony Pennington 6’2″ Team KC Black (North Kansas City): The lean shooting guard has one of the prettiest looking jump shots that you will see. He has good elevation on his high arching shots that will bring rain and buckets. He has three-level scoring ability with his long distance shooting and a solid middle game.
Tully Thomsen 6’3″ Team YOBO (Oak Grove): One of the top perimeter shooters that I watched during the weekend, I was just as impressed with his ability to make plays for others. There were many occasions where he was able to showcase his ball handling and passing skills. His court vision and unselfishness were very evident. When it comes to shooting the basketball, he was capable of ringing the bell from well beyond the 3-point line.
Charlie Ferrick 6’2″ Missouri Basketball Club (Priory): A very crafty offensive player who displayed a resourceful way of getting buckets in a variety of ways. He has solid handles and the ability to change speeds and directions on his way to the basket. He attacks the basket well and uses head and shoulder fakes to keep defenders off balance. His pull up jumper in the mid-range area is also very effective.
Quenton Shelton 6’2″ Carroll GoL1ve (Lebanon): A thick-bodied guard with a very potent stroke from long distance, he is capable of going on a run of 10 to 12 points by himself. His shooting range extends to well beyond the 3-point line, but he can also put it on the floor and get buckets on the bounce going in either direction.
Isaiah Jackson 6’2″ Team KC Black (William Chrisman): An athletic wing who was one of the best defensive players that I watched during the weekend. He gets in a stance and will guard with a lot of effort plus he can create steals by getting into the passing lanes. He is very solid on the drive and made a few open 3-pointers.
Kevin Sorrells 6’2″ Marcus Denmon Select (Hogan Prep): A creative scoring guard who has nice handles and the ability to get in the lane and score. He did a good job of breaking down defenders with a variety of escape moves to create his own offense and make plays.
