J.D. Lewis High School League: Week 4 Preview
Heading into the final week before the playoff starts on Sept. 8, here’s a look at a Week 4 storyline preview.
Can the Clippers stay undefeated?
Entering Week 4, the Clippers remain as the only undefeated team in the league at 6-0. In Week 4, they’ll face a tough Spurs team (4-2) and then square off with Dante Kiesenhofer and the Lakers (4-2). They’ll certainly have their hands full with Kiesenhofer.
As the playoffs approach, the Clippers are starting to find their way as the top team in the league. They’re led by Dakota Gordon, Dylan Wiggins and Brandon Huffstetler. Gordon leads the league in assists per game (8.2), Huffstetler ranks fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (45.2 percent) and Wiggins ranks second in rebounds per game (13.6). They’re one of the more well-rounded teams in the league.
The Heat are still alive
The Heat took their first loss in league play in Week 3 to the Clippers in overtime but with Stefon McLeod, Bradley Williams and Will Otto leading the way, they look to bounce back in Week 4.
Williams is one of the top players in the league with his ability to shoot the 3 and defend the ball. McLeod is learning how to attack the rim with consistency. Otto is averaging 20.3 points per game as a rising freshman.
Kaleb Brooks powers the Nets
The Nets and Kaleb Brooks had just four players this past weekend but it didn’t slow Brooks down much. He’s nearly averaging a triple-double with 24.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. The Nets are 4-2 entering Week 4 and if they can get a full lineup to show up on Sunday, they could walk away with two more wins in the win-column.
Who will be this week’s Top Performer?
It’s not a regular week in the J.D. Lewis High School League unless somebody is putting up 30 points or more. This past weekend, Bradley Williams took home Top Performer honors after posting 31 points on 11-of-14 shooting against the Suns.
Nets wing Kaleb Brooks posted games of 33 points and 37 points despite having just four players. Cavaliers guard Justin Monden put up 36 points on 13-of-17 shooting against the Wizards, his best game so far. With plenty of talent to keep eyes on in Week 4, it will be interesting to see who walks away as the top performer.
