J.D. Lewis High School League: Week 3 Preview
The J.D. Lewis High School League kicks off Week 3 this Sunday. Here’s a look at some top performers from the opening weeks.
Three undefeated teams remain in the league
The Heat, Nets and Clippers are the only teams unbeaten in the J.D. Lewis High School League with records of 4-0. 2021 forward Stefon McLeod and 2023 guard Will Otto are a few notable names that lead the way for the Heat. McLeod is producing 20.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.3 blocks per game. Otto is putting up 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest. They’re two players that opponents will want to keep eyes on.
2021 forward Max Campbell and 2020 wing Kaleb Brooks are two players on the Nets keeping them unbeaten. Campbell has been a walking double-double, putting up 17.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game through four games. He put up 22 rebounds this past weekend against the Warriors.
Brooks is nearly averaging a triple-double at 18.5 points, 13.3 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game. He posted 27 points, 25 rebounds and 13 assists in their victory over the Warriors. He’s done his fair share of distributing and scoring in the league so far.
For the Clippers, 2021 guard Brandon Hufstetler and 2022 point guard Dakota Gordon continue to set the tone for the team. Gordon is producing 24.7 points, 9.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. Huffstetler is putting up 19.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game on 40.5 percent shooting from 3-point land.
It will be interesting to see who comes out of Week 3 undefeated. The Nets and Clippers play each other at 2:00 to kick this off on Sunday. The Heat and Clippers face off at 4:30 later on Sunday.
Kiesenhofer leads the league in rebounds per game
2021 forward Dante Kiesenhofer is quite the prospect at 6-foot-8 and he’s starting to come into his own in the J.D. Lewis High School League with the Lakers. Kiesonhofer is second in the league in scoring at 26.5 points per contest but he leads the league in rebounds per game with 15.3 per contest.
He’s posted games with 11, 21, 12 and 17 rebounds so far through two weeks of action. With plenty of action remaining, it will be interesting to see if he can keep up his solid performance on the boards. He’s a player that can play inside and out and when he’s playing with a motor, he’s hard to stop.
Wizards look for their first victory
2020 guard A.J. Thompson had given them a boost but they still remain 0-4 so far in the J.D. Lewis High School League. Thompson posted 27.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per contest in his debut during Week 2. On Sunday, they’ll look to score their first win with the Lakers and Cavaliers on the schedule.
