The Waubonsie Valley wing is a player we heard some buzz about, but this was our first evaluation. He doesn’t play AAU because he is a big time volleyball player as well. Schwieger also looked the part of a D1 hoops recruit at 6’5” with a long and wiry frame. Plus shooter that drilled shots in both in the drills and games. Clean looking shot. More than just a shooter he has athleticism with a quick first step and acrobatic finishes at the rim. Look for him to make a big debut in the next 2021 rankings.
The rising junior broke down the strengths of his game as a player.
“I think ever since I was little I was very versatile. I can do a little of everything. I can shoot it. The past few years I have been growing a lot so I have been able to get to the rim and dunk a lot.”
How did it go with his high school team in June?
“We did really well. We are going to be a young team with primarily juniors. We only have four or five seniors on the team. We are going to be young, but it should be fun. A lot of them play AAU with Paradise Basketball. They like to run and gun so I like that style.”
Several D1 schools have already jumped in the mix for his services.
“I have offers from IUPUI and Robert Morris. IUPUI is awesome. Robert Morris has an awesome gym.”
Expect UIC to be involved after his performance at their camp!
