Adam Sommer 6’3″ Arsenal Hoops (Parkway South): The talented guard closed out the grassroots season with another strong weekend of performances. He displayed his offensive chops as he could operate with or without the ball with equal effectiveness. He hit 3-pointers off the catch or he could dribble up and knock down a 3-pointer with ease. He used his physical strength to get to his spots on the court to knock down mid range jumpers or get himself to the free throw line.
Sam Richardson 6’5″ Arsenal Hoops (Hancock): The versatile wing had a strong first day when I watched him and that continued throughout the weekend. He did a little bit of everything as he knocked down jumpers, rebounded well on both ends of the court while playing solid defense. He is also a very capable ball handler who could make plays for others. He was a very effective all-purpose player.
Brant Bowers 6’2″ Missouri Elite (Rock Bridge): The talented marksmen continued his hot shooting from the previous week where he led MO Elite to the Gold Division championship at the Three Stripes Alliance. In the one game I watched, he scored a game-high 22 points and made five 3-pointers. He wears out zone defenses with his ability to knock down 3-pointers. Look for him to make a big contribution to this year’s Rock Bridge team as a senior.
Jalen Perry 5’9″ MoKan 2020 (Liberty North): A very quick and sound point guard who plays the position in an old-school manner in that he tries to serve his teammates first before looking for his own shot. He has good court vision and an understanding of where he teammates like to have the ball. When it is time to score, he has excellent burst to get himself into the lane and some nice escape moves to create a jumper off the dribble.
Sylvon Mosley 6’3″ Arsenal Hoops (McCluer North): Athletic wing player who slashes well to the basket to get buckets but he is also very good at getting a lot of points without getting a ton of touches. That’s because he is constantly running hard in transition, he cuts well without the basketball and he will get to the offensive boards for put-backs. His ability to consistently make plays with commanding the basketball makes him very valuable.
Joshua Mason 6’2″ Willpower (Nixa): A skilled combo guard who was capable of putting up points or creating offense for his teammates. He can shoot the ball well from 3-point range and he can also handle the ball and get into the lane for short jumpers and layups. His passing ability was also impressive as he could also facilitate very effectively.
Chris Hill 6’2″ Arsenal Hoops (Brentwood): A physical combo guard who was among the leading scorers in the St. Louis area last season. He handled the ball quite a bit as a playmaker and he used his strength to attack the basket and play through any kind of contact. He is a solid shooter, but he was at his best when he was operating with the bounce.
Colby Hale 6’0″ Missouri Mavericks Premiere (NE Cairo): A good small-school guard who had a productive weekend as a scorer and playmaker. He is a skilled ball handler who is also strong with the ball as he could get into tight spaces and get to the rim for buckets. He also has a nice stop and pop jumper from the mid-range and passing skills to drop dimes to open teammates. He liked to have the ball in his hands in tight game situations.
