The event succeeded in bringing together some of the best grassroots programs from all circuits. It was a great glimpse into the future of AAU basketball, as well as the game in general. With so many talented players to choose from, creating an All-Tournament team was pretty easy. The only issue was how many talented players would get left off. Here is a look at PH’s Fantastic 40 17U All -Tournament team.
MVP: Jaylen Clark 6’5 SG Compton Magic 2020 – Probably could have went a couple of ways with someone from the champs, but he made an impact from Day 1, and was the Alpha in the Championship Game. Elite athleticism, great slasher, willing defender and most importantly plays to win.
1st Team
Zaire Williams 6’7 SF BTI 2020 – Did it all for his team, scored, played some point, and kept everyone engaged. Highest ceiling of anyone in the tournament.
Nick Blake 6’5 SF Las Vegas Knicks 2020 –Was a bull in helping the Knicks to the Semis. Unique skill set, plays through contact better than any player I have seen this year. UNLV got a stud.
Marjon Beachamp 6’6 SG Seattle Rotary 2020 – Literally a “shooting” guard. Helped Rotary to the Championship game. He was great off the move and easily rose over smaller guards to knock down clean looks all week.
Dalen Terry 6’6 SF Compton Magic 2020 – The Arizona commit is an intriguing prospect. Point forward type who helped set the table for teammates. Clark gets the MVP mainly because of his play in the Championship game, however Terry was consistent all weekend.
Terrence Clarke 6’5 SG Expression Elite 2021 – Clarke made it look easy all week. He showed why he is one of the best players in the class of 2021. If you had to create the perfect shooting guard he would look like Clarke. 6’5 knock down shooter, great first step, explosive finisher.
2nd Team
Jonathan Kuminga 6’8 Stretch 4 Belmont Shores 2021 – Kuminga played well in helping Belmont Shores to the Semifinals.
Clifford Omoruyi 6’11 C We R 1 DE 2020 – Shot blocker with raw athleticism. Omoruyi isn’t shooting any further than 2 feet out, but when he does, it’s a dunk and he’s putting you in the basket.
Nolan Hickman 6’0 PG Seattle Rotary 2021 – Hickman has serious game. Shot it well, and had perhaps the most shake off the dribble of anyone in the tournament. Executed P&R offense flawlessly.
Anthony Hunter 5’11 PG Las Vegas Knicks 2020 – I just really love the way Hunter plays. Gritty PG willing to sacrifice his body to get into the lane. Helped the Knicks reach the Semifinals.
Otis Frazier 6’5 SF Compton Magic 2020 – If there was a play to be made, Frazier made it. Displayed boundless energy and was the type of glue guy that is a must have for any championship team.
3rd Team
Tristan Maxwell 6’3 BMaze Elite UAA 2020 – Fearless shooter, and play-maker. He came up big in late game situations.
Jahylan Tuimoloau 6’5 PF Seattle Rotary 2021 – One of the top Defensive Tackles in the nation is also a heck of a power forward. Carved out space, rebounded and competed with some of the best bigs in the country.
Bradley Ezewiro 6’8 PF Belmont Shores 2020 – His elite athleticism combined with the ability to stretch the floor, helped Belmont into the Semifinals.
Andre Harris 6’7 PF Compton Magic 2020 – He’s kind off a future glimpse of what Tuimoloau will be in one year. Banger, however a surprisingly good passer and facilitator.
Adam Miller 6’4 SG Mac Irvin Fire 2020 – Because of injuries MIF had to forfeit its round of 16 game. That only prevented me from watching Miller and Terrence Clarke go at it. However dude put up 53 and hit 13 threes in the game, he’s getting on the team.
Honorable Mention: Mitchell Saxon, Rodney Gay, Dashien Nix, Brandon Huntley, Moussa Cisse, Bryce Fitzgerald, Jalen Haynes, Issac Spears, Amari Bailey
