Looking ahead, I wanted to highlight some duos in the area, that will standout this fall. These players will combine to put up a lot of numbers, and it will be an exciting time!
Central Ohio Duos:
• Jalen Sullinger & Isaac Settles (Thomas Worthington): Jalen Sullinger and Isaac Settles solidified themselves last season as a 1-2 punch from the guard positions. The duo is able to produce well over half their teams point, on any given night. Both guards have the ability to knock it down from all over, as well as handle the ball. Settles brings more length to the defensive side, in which he should be even better at this coming season. Sullinger is a drive and kick threat that gets Settles open looks often. You could really talk about a trio with this team, with the transfer Tyrese Hughey in the mix. The best thing though, is that these three are only juniors.
• Nate Griggs & Paul Burris (Delaware Hayes): Maybe one of the more under the radar combos in the area, but these two can absolutely play, and help their team win. Griggs is a quick guard that can fill it up from various spots, and finishes through contact. Him and Paul Burris will be leaned upon for a lot of the teams production this season, as seniors. Burris is a lengthy wing that can score from mid range, a capable three ball and down low. If Burris improved his burst just a bit, I could see him taking off even more this year. The resent offer from Ashland shows that coaches from the high D2s are in on him. Griggs and Burris should help Hayes compete this year, even with the loss of Kinsway.
• Jack Sawyer & Hunter Shedenhelm (Pickerington North): Out of this group of players, the Pick North duo easily has the most size, both standing around six-foot-five. Bringing different strengths to the team, Jack Sawyer is an inside force at the forward position. You won’t find anyone in Central Ohio with a better turnaround or physically imposing as Sawyer. Hunter Shedenhelm would be my pick for the best shooter in the area, as the senior can absolutely knock it down. Shedenhelm is a two-way threat that can lock up the opposing teams best player. Pickerington North is going to see a lot of wins this season, in big part to the play of their junior and senior leaders.
• Trevell Adams & Taquan Simington (Columbus South): Just second shorts from a D2 state championship, these two were a huge part of that. Both can create there own shot off the dribble, all though Adams likes to do more damage at the hoop. Both prospects we have ranked in 2020 and for good reason. These two are two-way players that take pride on the defensive side of the court. Adams was the best sixth man in Ohio last year without a doubt, and this year will be a main contributor starting, after graduation hit the team. One of the top backcourts in the area, will put up numbers across the board this winter.
