The 6-foot-7 forward is an inside-out threat who has touch out to 22 feet. His feel for the game and desire to hit the glass and lead the break is what separates him from other power forwards in his class.
Ole Miss, SMU, Saint Louis, TCU, and Tulsa have offered Powell, but he mentioned that Ole Miss, TCU and Tulsa are the main three schools that are the most active in his recruitment.
IN DUNCAN’S WORDS
Ole Miss: “I have taken two unofficial visits already and they have been really supportive in whatever I’m doing. Their staff is a staff that I’m comfortable talking to. I love how it is a real college town and the school is really supportive of its athletics program.”
Tulsa: “It is a great small academic school. Their coaches really love my versatility and say that I could fill the need of a stretch four. I feel that I could go there and play right off the bat.”
TCU: “It is a Big 12 school, so there is a lot of money being placed into the program. They love my versatility and want me to be effective on both sides of the floor.”
BOTTOM LINE
Powell does not plan on committing until later on in his high school career. Ole Miss seems to have earned his respect early, as he is already planning an official visit to Oxford in October.
Look for him to have a big junior season with Desoto as he will be the main focal point within their offense.
