As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. This series aims to highlight 30 of the best young cores in the DMV. A “young core” consists of players with at least two full years of high school basketball remaining. This includes prospects from the class of 2021 and younger. Here is a brief rundown of #10-6.
#10 BISHOP O’CONNELL (VA)
Brayon Freeman and Wes Peterson Jr. represent a dynamic duo in the local 2021 class. Paul Lewis continues to improve and should play a key role in the program moving forward. David Onanina and Ty Mason are two potentially dominant post prospects.
#9 BISHOP WALSH (MD)
Jalen Miller and Jordan Rayford will team up to form one of the best young backcourts in the area. Nestor Dyachok is a highly touted Russian prospect with size and some upside. Malik Bowman is considered a top-tier incoming freshman, and Mikey Allen is an athletic guard who should have a bright future.
#8 ST. MARY’S RYKEN (MD)
Devin Ceaser and Aaron Jasper are two experienced guards who are still just scratching the surface. Kenny McCoy is a bruising big man who will provide energy in the front-court for the next two seasons. The addition of Ben Williams certainly bolsters this backcourt and gives them another strong defensive presence. Guard Chase Williams and post Wisdom Rogers are two promising 2022 prospects to keep an eye on.
#7 CESAR CHAVEZ (DC)
Chavez has a tremendous young core of prospects starting with their lockdown defender Missiah Brown. Kris King and Kent King are two versatile wings worth watching. Maurice Johnson is an intriguing young wing prospect with big time athleticism. Lamont Tate is a potential stud with a fearless mentality. Mike Henderson is a true point guard who will only improve over time.
#6 BULLIS (MD)
Rodney Rice, Erik Reynolds, and Cole Hanin constitute a formidable three-headed monster in the Bulldogs backcourt. Manny Tucker is a good young post prospect to monitor. Zane Adnam is a talented incoming freshman with some moxie. Guard Alan Kane and forward William Moreau are a couple of reliable 2021 prospects who will help stretch the floor.
