As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. This series aims to highlight 30 of the best young cores in the DMV. A “young core” consists of players with at least two full years of high school basketball remaining. This includes prospects from the class of 2021 and younger. Here is a brief rundown of #20-16.
#20 ROCK CREEK CHRISTIAN (MD)
Rock Creek boasts two experienced studs in Zaakir Williamson and James Gross. Willie Rivera and Raymond Watts are a couple of young guards with some good potential.
#19 MCDONOGH (MD)
Jared Billups is an energetic all-around talent and a nice centerpiece for this young group. Everett Cooper is mature beyond his years at the point guard position. Preston Howard and Dani Dennis-Sutton are two physical bigs who compliment each other very well.
#18 JOHN CARROLL (MD)
Tyson Commander and Cesar Tchilombo were two of the best freshmen in the state last year and should build from that momentum moving forward. Jaiden Jakubowski and Jalen Bryant both produced last year and all signs are pointing to improvement.
#17 BISHOP MCNAMARA (MD)
Favour Aire is a nationally ranked post prospect who has high major written all over him. Terrence Butler Jr. and Ed Johnson III are already consistent producers who should continue to improve, and the addition of David Brown III will certainly give this group a boost.
#16 GEORGETOWN PREP (MD)
Zion Russell is a world-class athlete who can shoot it at a high clip. Stefan Marcelle is developing into a beast in the frontcourt. AJ Thomas and Abrion Sewell are a nice young backcourt tandem and Ben Woodward could provide an added punch on the wing.
