Glenn Valentine 6’0″ Cardinal Ritter: The slick point guard was easily the best defensive player in the camp with his ability to create steals and turnovers. He was taking the ball away with good instincts on the weak side and also shooting into passing lanes. He was very disruptive. On the offensive side, he was a very good 3-point shooter who attacked the basket well.
Sam Adams 6’1″ St. Charles: A thick-bodied point guard who played a very solid game and was also one of the top 3-point shooters in the camp. He did an excellent job of knocking down open perimeter jumpers off the catch. He used his physical strength to handle the ball through contact and made some nice passes.
Colby Hale 5’11” NE Cairo: The talented small-school guard is getting his name out there with a number of good performances on the Elite Camp circuit. He is a very confident ball handler and passer who displayed the ability to score at all three levels at the camp. I’m very impressed with his ability to make plays in tight spaces.
Rece Gilmore 6’1″ Southern Boone: An aggressive point guard who plays with a lot of pace. He’s a good athlete who looked to push the ball and put pressure on the defense at all times. He had a number of coast to coast forays to the basket for layups. He also hit a number of short jumpers off the dribble. He gave a very good effort on the defensive end.
Blake Gordon 5’9″ Lathrop: A pass-first point guard with good ball handling ability and physical strength. He’s the standout quarterback on a state finalist football team and that good passing ability also comes through on the basketball court, where he was more than willing to drop dimes to open teammates. He was good at maneuvering his way into the lane for layups and floaters.
