Friday night’s Central Cali Showcase was no exception. Taking place in Bakersfield, the Pangos brand brought together some of the best talent in Central California. PH takes a look at some of the standouts from the C/O 2022 showcase game.
MVP: Camden Thompson 6’0 Clovis East 2022 – Thompson seemed to always be around the rim. He finished in transition and battled for offensive rebounds. A better than average athlete who ran the floor well and played with a high motor. Thompson was all over the floor as he helped power his squad to an easy 20 point victory.
Best Prospect: Hunter Jo – Jo Hunter 6’4 SF San Joaquin Memorial 2022 – I go to events like these, to find prospects like this. Hunter was elite at everything except shooting. He rebounded, distributed and defended like a title was at stake. Had a dominant impact on both ends of the floor. His ceiling depends on his ability to improve his athleticism and his shooting. A lot of the other skills come naturally for him, he’s a good passer, has a fluid handle and high IQ. He is a mid to high major prospect, who currently holds offers from Fresno St and UTEP.
1st Team
Orion Tomilson 6’0 PG San Joaquin Memorial 2022 – Nice jitterbug PG that can create a shot for himself or his teammates. Good handle, solid mid-range game, Tomlison excels at creating space to get off his shot.
Stephon Brooks 5’11 SG West 2022 – Brooks is more of a combo than a 2. He’s got great vision and is a creative passer.
Tyus Parrish-Tillman 6’7 Fresno Christian 2022 – Tillman was effective using his size to rebound and finish around the rim. The majority of his buckets came off put backs and point blank finishes. He will need to improve his conditioning and mobility, however he showed flashes of becoming a solid scholarship athlete.
John “Jack” Wade 6’2 San Joaquin Memorial 2022 – Wade was the best shooter on the floor. He showed playmaking ability, and excellent decision making when leading the break. Willing defender capable of defending both backcourt spots.
Terik Streets 5’11 SG Central East Campus 2022 – The lefty displayed a nice stroke and in the gym range. Good 1 on 1 offensive bag that includes step backs and strong hand dribble drives. He may wind up being undersized for the 2, but he has the shooting and scoring ability to compensate.
