Neither team had their full rosters as Rotary was without their stud 2021 Paolo Banchero, but there was still plenty of star power on the floor with 2020 guards Adam Miller and Majon Beauchamp. Each showed why they are coveted recruits and Miller put up an all-time performance going for 53 points in the Fire’s 77-69 win. Here are our 5 Takeaways: Mac Irvin Fire vs Seattle Rotary.
Adam Miller Epic Performance
Adam Miller was absolutely the best I have ever seen him on Friday night in Las Vegas. The Morgan Park 2020 combo guard posted a statement performance against another quality opponent and backcourt posting 53 points including 13 made three pointers. The question with Miller has been the shot selection and missing threes that he forced up. That was not an issue in this game as they were going down one after another and he was hitting the heat check shot every time as well. Shot it with a ton of confidence with most of them on pull ups. He did have several other buckets including spinning runners and slippery drives. We have always said when he is on he is the best scorer in the state and one of the best in the country. That was evident on Friday!
Marjon Beauchamp Backs Up Recent News with Play
Recently 2020 shooting guard Marjon Beauchamp announced his plans for his future. The former Rainer Beach (WA) wing will transfer to Dream City Christian (AZ) for his senior year and then skip college instead deciding to train for the 2021 NBA Draft for a full year. This was my first time personally evaluating him. Good positional size at 6’6” with length. He has a natural scoring ability getting buckets with ease. Got out in transition for multiple finishes, scored at the rim with athleticism, and hit a three. High level passer as well for an off guard. I had him for 20 points.
Mac Irvin Fire Supporting Cast
With Miller scoring 53 of their 77 points there wasn’t a ton of other points to go around. Chicago native and Sierra Canyon (CA) wing Amari Bailey flashed why he is among the premier 2022s nationally. Ultra smooth getting to the rim. Should be the next star fot he Fire program. Seryee Lewis had a few finishes inside off dump off passes and getting on the offensive glass.
Other Rotary Prospects Worth Tracking
A couple of other Rotary players jumped off the floor to us. First was 6’10” 2020 center Mitchell Saxen. Well-built sleeper five man was a shot blocking presence inside. Rebounded well in his area and was efficient with his touches scoring inside. A little bit better known of a name is Eastside Catholic (WA) 2021 shooting guard Shane Nowell. The lefty wing has a clean looking jump shot that stretches out to three.
One Last Show in Vegas
Most of the time last weekend would have the finale for travel teams, but because of the NCAA Camps it wasn’t a normal year. This Fantastic 40 event is a nice send off for players to have fun in a loose environment one last time with their travel teams!
