On the 22nd, the Top 250 Expo will travel back to Virginia where it will take place at Riverbend High School. In anticipation of the upcoming expos in the area, we’re in the process of highlighting 30 prospects who benefited respectively from last year’s local showcases. Today, we take a look at 2020 guard Aaron Russell of Bishop McNamara.
PRE-CAMP
Russell came into the camp as a relative unknown. With little experience at the varsity level, the camp was a good opportunity to test his skills against some of the top prospects in the area.
DURING CAMP
The main takeaway from Russell’s performance at the camp was how aggressive he was. The lefty showcased his versatile offensive skill set while giving incredible effort on the defensive side of the ball.
POST-CAMP
Russell would go on to have a breakout junior campaign for a much improved Mustangs team. He opened the season in fine fashion at the National HoopFest, scoring 12 points and hitting four treys in the first half of a blowout win over Bullis. Russell continued to play well this past spring and summer with Pure Game elite, and is beginning to receive interest from several programs at the next level.
