That number will certainly grow, as it’s still early. But, it’s looking like this class could go down as a really good one.
Central Ohio specifically has some nice talent in this graduating class, we take a look at the top in the area here.
6. Sean Jones (5’11” / PG / Gahanna Lincoln / All-Ohio Red): Sean Jones may just be the quickest player in the state from basket to basket. Jones has a next level first step that puts him ahead of the defender, which is crucial to his game. The Gahanna guard fought through some injury the last few months, and did what he could. Jones creates like no other, always making flashy passes and dump offs. Also, gets to the basket with ease, finishes through contact and works best with the ball in his hand. If Jones grows to be 6-2, watch out, as he may just be un-guard able at this level. Jones is improving his jumper, which is capable at this point.
11. Joshua Whiteside (6’6” / PF / St. Charles / Nova-Reese): Whiteside is a defensive force first on the floor, from my point of view. His defensive ability is wise beyond his years, and he can play with anybody inside. Fluid movement allows him to contest about anything. And, just because you’re out in open court doesn’t mean much, Whiteside has the chase down ability. On offense, he has came a ways, can handle his dribble and work off the bounce to get his own bucket a bit. At his best when he’s found with an open late.
13. Jared Frey (6’4” / SG / St. Charles / All-Ohio Red): Jared Frey has an opportunity to be the best pure scorer in Central Ohio in his class. Frey brings a strong shooting ability to go along with the perfect size to dominate the HS game. Getting stronger and quicker will do numbers for his game. Frey uses different moves to get to the hoop and grab a bucket. Handles the ball well, and can operate off a called iso.
14. DJ Moore (6’3” / G / Worthington Christian / Indy Heat): DJ Moore is a three sport athlete that is one of the more athletic players in the area. Moore doesn’t rely on just one way to score the ball, he can do it in many. Moore handles the ball well, and can work with or without it. Can shoot off the dribble and get to the basket, or stop for the pull up. Moore has grown a couple inches, and it has paid dividends on the defensive side of the ball. His length affects the opposition, creating more turnovers. A player that could see himself average 23 a game this year, at least.
15. Dior Conners (6’1” / G / Pickerington North / Indiana Elite): Dior Conners is another quick guard in this class, who already holds a D1 offer. Conners can get into the lane with quickness and makes good choices with the ball in his hands. Knows when to kick it out or finish strong at the rack. Dior wears down defenders as he is 100% go all the time. Interested to watch his game continue to develop.
