2021 Top Ohio Lead Guard Meechie Johnson Commits To Ohio State
Last winter, Meechie Johnson suffered an ACL tear that he didn’t let set him back. The Garfield Heights junior kept working, and put time into rehab to get right.
The six foot guard committed to Ohio State on Tuesday afternoon. The Buckeyes recruited Johnson hard before injury, and made him a priority. Even after the injury, the coaches in Columbus stayed in constant contact with the 2021 guard.
Today the Prep Hoops Ohio 2021 rankings were released, where Meechie showed up at number three.
Johnson broke on to the scene after scoring 50 points in a game his freshman season, and has flat out hooped since. A former teammate of Alonzo Gaffney, already has some chemistry waiting for him in Columbus possibly.
Ohio State really likes the competitive nature Johnson plays with. And, his ability put the ball in the hoop. Scoring from all over, with the ball on a string.
The talented guard is joining in-state 2021 Kalen Etzler at Ohio State, who gave his verbal a few months ago. That could be a mean duo in years to come, that any Ohio high school basketball fan would love to see.
The Buckeyes will probably turn their attention to Malaki Branham, a shooting guard from Akron SVSM. Combining those three, could be a bad day for the opposing team each time out.
A long way till 2021 signing day, but the four star guard will be one to watch in Columbus when that time comes. Ohio State beat out schools like Louisville, Georgetown, UNLV and others.
