[no. 4] Logan Duncomb | 6-9 C | Moeller / Indiana Elite
Lanky post player with growth potential who shows exhilarating flashes of skill and athletic ability. His recruitment took off at June’s Ohio State Team Camp, when he doused St. Vincent-St. Mary with bucket after bucket. We wrote of that performance:
“Ohio State validated Duncomb’s outstanding performance against STVM with a scholarship offer. Big news for the young — just turned 16-years-old in April — in-state big who adds Ohio State to an offer sheet that included Miami (OH) and Winthrop before the weekend began.
So what did Duncomb do well on Friday?
-
- Made a wide open 3-pointer. Even though there was nobody within five feet to contest the shot, the stroke looked pretty darn good.
- Duncomb dunked the ball in transition, rising off two-feet to put it on a defender’s head. Flushed a similar dunk in the halfcourt, too.
- Considerably quicker laterally. Able to show and recover when defending the screener in the pick-and-roll.
- Has added mass to his upper body.
- As always, Duncomb played with a chip on his shoulder.”
He has received offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Xavier since then.
[no. 22] Brenton Walker | 6-6 C | Canton McKinley / Ohio Basketball Club
Athletic finisher with prototypical shoulders and a bulky frame. Even with his upper body size, Walker remains explosive off the ground, often finishing his drop steps by crushing a two-hand dunk on an opponent’s head. Runs the floor well and occasionally takes the ball up the floor himself. Dominate rebounder.
[no. 32] AJ Braun | 6-8 C | Fenwick / Team Flyght
Inside and outside scorer with a thick build. Braun shows natural touch around the rim, often scoring on quick over-the-shoulder baby hooks. A capable pick-and-pop threat, too, because of his shooting ability. Great hands. Ambidextrous.
Ohio offered.
[no. 35] Vernon Smith | 6-7 C | Buchtel / All Ohio Red
Energy big with immense athleticism and mobility. Active rebounder that’s tough to keep away from the glass. Scores through put-backs and beating guys in transition. Lot of upside as a rim protector given his tools and physical approach. Quick block to block.
[no. 41] Frank WaganFeald | 6-7 C | Oregon Clay / C2K Elite
Skilled low-post scorer who effectively operates from the block or short corner. Uses a brisk spin move to get space for his hook shot. Rebounds with size and strength. WaganFeald is becoming increasingly effective as a help-side presence at the rim because of improved mobility.
[no. 54] Sklyer Schmidt | 6-5 C | Clermont Northeastern / NEO Tru Game
Strong frame that could pack more muscle. Nimble feet. Quickness block to block and off the ground as a leaper. Active rebounder and defender. Schmidt excels at everything in the paint, really. He also flashes outside shooting ability and his mechanics are very promising. Productive.
