Dayton does not have a player ranked in the Top 20 and their highest ranked player is #28 (McComb). That being said, there are still some great basketball players in the updated rankings and are still worth watching. Today I evaluate 6 of the ranked players from Dayton in the 2021 class.
Anthony McComb- Thurgood Marshall 6’2 SG- The top ranked player from Dayton in the 2021 rankings, McComb has a chance to separate himself as one of the better players and leaders this upcoming season. A varsity player since his freshman year with the Cougars, McComb has great length and size for a 2-guard. Able to score from different levels, he will be a solid scoring option and will give you double digit scoring any night.
A.J. Braun- Fenwick 6’8 C- Braun is one of a few assets returning for the Falcons this upcoming season. Without a doubt one of the biggest players in the GCL Coed this year, Braun will have an opportunity to impress even more as Fenwick’s top player. He possesses a strong upper body and solid footwork. Able to score with his back to the basket and a size mismatch waiting to happen.
Allen Lattimore- Stivers 6’1 G- A sharp shooting guard, Lattimore has shown on many occasions his ability to knock down the 3PT shot from different ranges. One of several returning players for Stivers, he will have an opportunity to increase his scoring numbers with senior teammate Trevon Ellis (2020). Able to score off the dribble as well, Lattimore demands respect on the perimeter.
Maro Egodotaye- Carroll 6’8 C- Still a relatively raw big man, Egodotaye has the potential to be one of the best post players Carroll has seen the last few seasons. He has so much length which disrupts post offensive and scoring in the paint. Offensively he has improved over the summer and showed more confidence with the ball in the paint. With many of the GCL schools having a big man at 6’6 or taller, Egodotaye will have to be ready to contribute early on.
Dan Nauseef- Chaminade-Julienne 6’6 C- A lengthy defensive nightmare for the Eagles, Nauseef is a solid rebounding and shot blocking threat. His back side rotation is solid as he is able to defend the rim and moves from block to block. His offensive game improved from his freshman to sophomore year and I expect those numbers to again improve going into junior year.
Aidan Reichert- Jackson Center 6’4 PF- Reichert is the best player in the Division IV range when looking at Dayton teams. A physically imposing inside-out threat, he plays with such a high motor and creates mismatches with his size and skillset. The top player on this Tigers team, we will get to see how well of a leader Reichert is this season and he becomes an upperclassmen and leader for this team.
