Continue ReadingThe AAU season is over and we are diving into the individual player rankings for the Junior class. We start with the point guards. There were some movement with this group and some new faces. Many players were discovered and most just got better. This group is very deep.
1. Tyrone “Ty Ty” Washington Jr (Cesar Chavez)
-Showed the West Coast how he can control games with his pace, passing, strength, size and skill.
2. Frankie Collins (AZ Compass Prep)
-Strong downhill true PG seeks contact and finishes in the lane with the best of them.
3. Justus Jackson (Millennium)
-Athletic guard can shoot it from deep and make others better.
4. Jalen Scott (Paradise Honors)
-One of the better natural passers in the class. Great advanced passer and has great size. Getting some bounce back after an injury.
5. Jason Kimbrough (Mountain Pointe)
-Fast scoring lead guard has improved his passing. Very good deep shooter and on-ball defender.
6. Ricardo Sarmiento (Cesar Chavez)
-Pull-up king from mid-range is one of the best at it in the class. Better passer then he gets credited for.
7. Christian Tucker (Perry)
-Fast scoring PG is improving quickly. Should have a huge year this upcoming season.
8. Keiren “KP” Brown (St Mary’s)
-Strong and bigger PG. Gets downhill and makes others better.
9. Steven Cervantes Jr. (Mesa)
-Feel for the game is really high and can shoot it with range.
10. Marcus Wady (Desert Vista)
-Quick scoring lead guard can turn the corner on his defender and pull-up from mid-range.
11. Montez Taylor (Williams Field)
-Fastest end to end diminutive pure PG has made a huge leap with his game.

1. Joe Kelsey (Desert Ridge) Pure shooting stroke and a high IQ.
2. Carson Kelly (Chandler) Undersized pure PG can shoot it.
3. Jahon Lethridge (Thunderbird) Strong and athletic scoring guard.
4. Dre Sheehan (Agua Fria) Crafty downhill guard is very competitive.
5. Tampa Scott (Gilbert) Fast guard will break out next year when all their senior guards graduate but he has a big game as well. Improving scorer, ball handler and defender.
6. Jimari Grayson (Mesa) Another strong downhill guard is a good defender.
7. Derrick Kaps (Highland) Defensive lead guard has a tight handle and is improving as a shooter.
8. Kahan Shoulders (San Tan Charter) Another fast end to end guard is a ball hawk on defense.
9. Dominque “Bear” Newsome (Central) Diminutive scoring guard with a tight handle and speed.
10. Zayn Kimbrough (Williams Field) Another stronger lead guard with a jumper.
11. Malik Mack (Desert Vista) Top-tier on-ball defender and has speed.
