The staff worked all summer, compiling new faces, risers and changes that needed to be made. And, those were finally released to everyone last Monday!
In this spotlight, I wanted to dig deeper and point out a few “bigger” student athletes!
Number beside name is ranking!
Bigs:
• 40. Deshaun Nettles (6’7” / PF / Cleveland Central Catholic / TNBA Ohio): Many may know this one, but still a player I wanted to highlight. I have been able to see Deshaun play during the winter and summer, and he was solid in both. Floor running ability allows him to get out in front and do damage. Also, the shot disrupting ability stands out at his size. Nettles can finish in the low-post, or stretch the floor a bit. Plays above the rim, finishes tough and athletic, Nettles can go! If a high D2 lands the Cleveland product, they’re getting themselves a player. Best basketball is definitely ahead.
• 68. Isaiah Ingle (6’8” / C / Northland / Hidden Gems Orange): Isaiah Ingle reminds me of a high school level Rudy Gobert when I watch him play, in certain ways. Ingle is long and agile, and is a rim protector. Getting shots off around him, isn’t the easiest. Really looking forward to the Northland product taking a step forward this season.
• 80. Bilal Sow (6’5” / PF / Canal Winchester / Miller Factory): Much of the time I watch Sow, he’s a man amongst boys. Sow has became more capable of stretching the floor, and still bangs down low. Can be utilized in the pick & roll or even pick & pop. Canal Winchester will probably be led by Sow this year, and that isn’t a bad thing at all.
• 81. Charles Perkins (6’4” / C : Westerville North / Ohio Hoopsters-Jones): Personally, Perkins showed up on my board late summer. Became instantly impressed with how hard he played, and toughness on the boards. When you hear the term “hard work beats talent” think of a player like Perkins. Plays bigger than his size, works down low with bigger centers also. Finishes off either block, I believe Perkins best basketball is ahead of him
• 181. Harley Day (6’6” / C / North Union): Harley Day is a name many probably don’t know in the area. A smaller school athlete, who plays a couple different sports. Day is a D3 prospect, that could fit in well at that level. Athletic and lengthy, Day gets a lot of mismatch opportunities during the high school season. Can finish in the post, as well as a nice mid-range game. Day runs the floor and can play above the rim, too.
