For whatever reason, certain plays slip through the cracks each year on coaches lists, and aren’t as well known. And, I’m here to tell you these players can go!
Number beside name is their rank.
Prospects:
79. Tahleik Walker (6’2” / G / Pickerington Central / Hidden Gems White): Walker is going to get a bigger opportunity with Pick Central this winter, and I’m here for it. Walker is a high energy player that competes and takes pride on defense. Quick burst off the dribble helps him get to the hoop with ease. Can finish from either side through contact or acrobatically. Works best as a slasher or driver, would like to see him shoot it more. But, Walker will be an important piece for the Tigers this winter.
94. Jack Santa-Emma (5’11” / PG / Jonathan Alder / Mid Ohio Pumas-Staib): Undersized but Santa-Emma plays exactly how a lead guard should. Makes good decisions with the ball in his hand, and makes his teammates better. The 2020 guard fulfills kick-outs and can put the inside pass on point majority of the time. Doesn’t rely on athleticism to beat defenders. Also, knocks down open shots, handles the rock well and is a coach on the floor. Alder will have a talented back court once again this coming season.
97. Cali Davis (6’1” / G / Africentric / Hidden Gems Black): Cali Davis I’ve watched a ton the last few months, and it’s safe to say he’s improved. A crafty guard that can handle it well, and work off-ball a bit. Creates space on step backs, up-and-unders and the crossover. Davis plays the game with high energy on both ends and is a vocal leader. I expect Davis to be a leader for Africentric this season, as they’ll be much improved.
101. Ketaan Wyatt (6’3” / PG / Rogers / Nova-Alleyne): I’ve been able to watch Wyatt a couple times, each time I come away impressed with his ability to make good decisions and control the pace of the game. I think Wyatt predicts as a solid lead guard to the next level, and could be a potential riser late in his senior year. Wyatt makes plays for others, can score it, and has no trouble defending with his size.
158. Mitch Heilman (6’0” / G / Ashland / Wooster Warriors): Mitch is a multi sport athlete that is good at just about whatever he does. Heilman controls the pace and works well with the ball or without. Capable shooter from deep, Mitch can create his own shot. Tough guard who plays the game the right way, at a good pace. Good basketball IQ, production should go up at Ashland this winter, with the few graduations they had.
187. Julian Binford (5’7” / PG / Eastmoor / Hidden Gems Black): Heart over height is the exact motto for Binford. One of the better scoring guards, Binford creates space at a high rate. This summer Julian got to the hoop on blow byes and finished through contact often. Can shoot it, gets teammates involved, plays hard at all times.
