The 2020 class has several bigs that have the potential to be impact players at the next level. Will they be impactful right way? That’s for the prospect to decide. Here are 5 2020 bigs to watch:
Cole Larue (McGill-Toolen)- Widely regarded as one of the most skilled bigs in the southeast, Larue is a prospect to watch. The 6’8-6’9 big is a natural fit at the 4, but he could be a small ball 5. This post player is an underrated defender and a very good passer. Larue has several LM visits scheduled, but we think this kid has a chance to get MM offers.
Cameron Boozer (Lanett)- This kid is a 6’9 athlete. He looks the part and plays with swagger. Boozer can play above the rim, block shots, and step out to hit open jumpers from 3. This post player is at his best when he is able to showcase his athleticism on both ends of the court.
Shannon Grant (Sylacauga)- The 6’9-6’10 prospect from Sylacauga has barely scratched the surface of his potential. Grant is a big body who is hard to keep off the glass and out of the paint. This kid has a chance to be special. The only thing that can stop him is himself. If Grant continues to improve his body, he will be a force, and a D1 program will get a steal.
Sawyer Wright (Deshler)- Wright has made solid improvements to his game. The 6’8 big rebounds well, alters shots, cleans up on putbacks, and displays a soft touch. His biggest issue is consistency. He had an up/down AAU season for Pro One, but finished very well in July. D2, D3, and JUCO programs should track his production this season.
TJ Jones (Central)- Jones is another prospect that looks the part of an athletic and strong big. He screens well, hits the glass hard, runs the floor, and is unselfish. The 6’8 post actually may be too unselfish. With his size and strength, Jones should demand the ball more in the post. It is evident that this prospect needs more coaching. JUCO programs should track Jones.
