2020 Briggs McClain commits to Hartford
2020 guard Briggs McClain announced earlier today during his unofficial visit, that he has committed to Hartford. The Hawks were the only school to offer the 6-foot-2 combo guard who had a very productive spring and summer.
“I knew it was the place for me when Coach Gallagher told me he lets his guards play me freely and has total trust in them,” Briggs told Prep Hoops. “I also like the size and atmosphere of campus.”
McClain filled the role of a sixth man this season for a St. Maria Goretti team that was loaded with seniors and Division I talent. While he had many impressive outings this past winter, McClain asserted himself more in the spring with Mid-Atlantic Select and during the summer with Maryland Movement.
The rising senior made a name for himself at the DMV Live event in June, impressing Hartford enough for them to offer right on the spot. He showed plenty of promise to be a breakout player this season in the BCL with a much increased role for Goretti. McClain will play on and off the ball throughout, but will be expected to be a primary scorer and play maker in the backcourt for the Gaels.
When the Hartford staff saw Briggs in action this past June, he fit the blueprint for what Coach Gallagher wants in his guard play.
