It’s one of the farthest reaching exposure events in the country due to the national footprint that Prep Hoops has. The Top 250 has college coaches attending, but just as importantly, our phones will be ringing off the hook from more coaches looking for insight from the event.
There are many high quality players in Michigan that we’d love to see at the Prep Hoops Top 250. We have been looking at some examples of players from the class of 2020 that we’d like to see at the event. Andrew Bean (6’2″, SF, Lincoln Park)
Bean would be an interesting watch for college coaches. He’s a tough kid and an efficient scorer.
Aaron Bearss (6’4″, SF, Pewamo Wesphalia)
Bearss turned heads at the high school state playoffs last season. I’d like to see him continue his rise at the Top 250.
Devon Boyd (6’0″, PG, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)
Boyd is perpetually underrated. He’s quick, solid with the ball, and can create scoring opportunities when needed.
James Felton (6’8″, PF, Lansing Christian)
Felton really left an impression on me in July. He’s become a high level post player that college coaches will want to see and talk about.
Wes Gibbs (5’10”, G, Cheryl Stockwell Prep)
Small school kids sometimes need that extra exposure. Gibbs is a high IQ player that coaches should see at the Top 250.
Macai Johnson (6’2″, G, L’Anse Creuse North)
More scouts and coaches need to see Johnson. He is a disciplined and steady perimeter player. You can tell that he’s well coached in the mechanics.
Matt Kohler (6’2″, PG, Bedford)
Kohler had a big end to grassroots season. He’s a proto typical lead guard that can handle and distribute.
Joe Liedel (5’10”, PG, Erie Mason)
Liedel’s performance in the high school state playoffs was legendary. He’s an elite 3 point shooter with a quick release.
Khalil McAdoo (PG, DEPSA)
McAdoo needs to be seen by coaches at the next level. He’s explosive, yet steady at the lead guard. McAdoo has a lot of potential as a prospect.
Landon Moore (6’0″, PG, Flushing)
Moore is smooth with the dribble and intelligent with his shot selection. He’s a rising prospect in the state.
Ben Phillips (5’10”, G, Airport)
Phillips deserves the opportunity to play in front of scouts and coaches at the Top 250. He has quick feet and a nice looking jumper.
Trey Plichta (6’0″, PG, Sanford Meridian)
This young man will make a college coach look very good. He can run the offense and has a nice stroke from behind the arc.
Markail Riley (6’3″, SG, Melvindale)
Riley is fun to watch. He’s strong with the dribble and loves to push the ball in transition and look for easy buckets.
Andy Soma (6’0″, G, Traverse City West)
Soma is underrated as a prospect. He’s got the skills and work ethic to make an impact at the next level.
Mac VanRenterghen (6’1″, SG, Ann Arbor Pioneer)
VanRenterghen is primed for a big senior season. He’s an elite defender on the perimeter and should see more scoring opportunities next season.
Isaac Warning (6’4″, SF, Kenowa Hills)
Warning is a strong athlete that can battle in the paint for boards or pass from the perimeter. He’s got a lot of potential.
Colby Wiggins (6’3″, G/F, Goodrich)
Wiggins started to turn heads this summer. The Top 250 would be a great place for the wing to ride his momentum.
Roy Williams Jr. (6’4″, SG, DEPSA)
Williams Jr. has really flashed some potential. I’d like to see him square off with some more tough competition on the perimeter.
Oakley Withers (6’5″, G/F, Three Rivers)
Withers a strong, tough, and skilled athlete. The Top 250 would be a great opportunity to show how his skill set matches up.
Zach Yorke (6’1″, G, Millington)
Yorke is a true team player that is ready and willing to play whatever role his team needs. He’s very efficient offensively, recognizing good looks at the bucket.
