“Yeah, l we had a great season winning some big tournaments,” said starting forward Elijah Buckner.
Coached by Beasley, RFS accomplished much in 2019.
Midway through the season RFS hopped into the 16u State Rankings at #10.
Ladarius Anthony (Siegel)
2021, WF, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, Wears #23
Jaylan Wetzel was named Team MVP by coach.Jaylan Wetzel (Siegel) Ranked #66 in TN
2021, PG/SG, 6-foot-0, Wears #3
Andrew’s Angle: Always a wonderful outside shooter, Jaylan took it up a notch this summer. He is now hitting off the dribble. His catch-and-shoot is even more consistent. Further, Wetzel can make shots out to 21′. Perhaps the greatest improvement came in his vocal leadership. Wetzel grew a lot as a leader and this summer brought a newfound confidence out of him.
Vonterius Reed (Oakland)
2021, PG, 5-foot-9 1/2, Wears #15
Andrew’s Angle: Elite defender. Takes pride on the defensive end. Quick feet. Truly a nuisance checking cats at halfcourt and never letting up. Likes to get up in the open floor.
Ajaji Loving (Riverdale)
2021, PG, 5-foot-5, Wears #1
Andrew’s Angle: Will hit outside shot if given space.
Jabahri Mastin (Blackman) Ranked #159 in TN
2021, SG, 6-foot-3, Wears #0
Andrew’s Angle: Slender. Smooth shooter. Will need to get stronger, especially in his upper body. Mastin can drift out of offensive influence and too often defers. Potential to be a volume scorer in the right fit.
Jacob Beasley (Blackman) Ranked #113 in TN
2021, PG, 5-foot-10, Wears #2
Andrew’s Angle: Exceptional strength. He loves to get his chest in the way of the penetration. Beasley is a natural leader and his effort inspires investment teamwide. Beasley doesn’t have the length to defend really tall lead guards (6’3″+). He makes a difference in 16u action, for sure. Wonderful body control. We featured Jacob Beasley last fall. Read about his game at that stage.
Martise Jackson (Siegel) Ranked #87 in TN
2021, SG, 6-foot-3, Wears #34
Andrew’s Angle: “Motor” is the first thing that comes to mind. Hunts down offensive rebounds. Scrappy yet athletic. Not just hungry. He can play too. Jackson grew three inches in the last year. “6’3″ and still growing,” shared Jackson when asked late July. Versatile scorer with a budding touch from deep.
Kareem Sharif (Rockvale) Ranked #149 in TN
2021, Wing, 6-foot-2, Wears #15
Andrew’s Angle: High energy player. Kareem defends with great feet and hunts down rebounds. Lateral mobility is nice. His shooting touch is ok, but needs to improve for him to be a complete two-way player. Like Martise, Kareem also grew three inches in the last year.
Elijah Buckner (Siegel) Ranked #148 in TN
2021, F, 6-foot-5, Wears #35
Andrew’s Angle: Takes charges. Physical. Needs to expand his offensive arsenal. Doesn’t get all he can out of his strength/size offensively. With a better back-to-the-basket game, Elijah could find his way onto an NAIA team.
