Continue ReadingBoth live periods have passed, a Peach Jam champion has already been crowned, and August is quickly approaching. The summer is coming to a close. However, the AAU season still has one gasp of air remaining. It’s final inhale of oxygen will take place in Minnesota. Next weekend, the Prep Hoops Circuit Hard Work Region Finals will tip-off. Teams from all over the midwest will be traveling to Minnesota to try and take home the Hard Work Region crown. Here is a list of Wisconsin prospects who are ready for a big weekend in Minnesota:
Marshawn Robinson- ABC Young Lions 17U
Robinson put his name on the map during the spring AAU session. In his final Prep Hoops Circuit tournament of the summer, Robinson will look bolster his reputation. The 6’2″ guard is a great athlete who can finish efficiently around the rim. He is also a willing defender. Robinson’s quick hands can create steals, which can lead to open floor opportunities for his teammates. If the guard can augment his game with a consistent jumper, he will crack the top ten in the 2022 class rankings
Ryan Claflin- Wisconsin Crusaders AD 17U
Thanks to a great spring and summer, Ryan Clafin’s recruitment train has picked up steam. The SG has earned offers from Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. He is also picking up interest from UW Green Bay and Northern Iowa. At 6’6″, Clafin is the perfect college prospect. He can make shots from anywhere on the court, play above the rim, and pass it well to teammates. If he continues to play at a high level, his phone should be lighting up with more interested college programs.
Cade Meyer- Wisconsin Playground Club 16U
Cade Meyer is the embodiment of a stock riser. Before the AAU season tipped off, Meyer had zero offers and little interest. Now, the power forward has two Division One offers with some high major interest to add. The Monroe standout is a phenomenal rebounder, above-average shooter, and great shot blocker. Meyer will allow little negotiating in the paint; he is typically stronger, faster, and more athletic than his counterpart.
Ronja Kelly- BC Swag 16U
Because he does not play for a household AAU program, Kelly has flown under-the-radar. Placed as the 36th best player in Wisconsin’s 2021 class, the point guard will have a lot to prove during the Hard Work Region Finals. Kelly is an athletic scoring machine. When he sets his feet and rolls the ball off his left hand, it usually results in more lead marks next to his name. Coming in as the 42 seed, BC Swag will look to upset All In Athletics- Balaban in their first matchup of the tournament.
Alex Singleton- ABC Young Lions 16U
ABC Young Lions- Teal have been one of the biggest surprises on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer, earning the 11 seed in the 16U age division. Young Lions forward Alex Singleton has been a key prospect during his squad’s 2019 run. Singleton has good lift off the floor and is very efficient around the rim. He also willingly completes many thankless tasks. Like many of his teammates, Singleton should start to hear from colleges as he heads into his third year in high school.
Jeffery Brazziel- Wisconsin Playground Club- White 15U
Brazziel is one of the most talented players in the state, regardless of class. He is long, athletic, and has a smooth game. At the Prep Hoops Summer Challenge, Jack Rose led Wisconsin Playground Club to the co-championship, while Brazziel faded off to the side. In Minnesota, expect him to be more assertive on offense. When Brazziel decides that he wants to score, the guard will not find too much resistance from defenders.
Max Nelson- Wisconsin Playground Club Black 15U
Max Nelson had a pedestrian weekend while playing for WPC Black in Chicago. But, after leaving Phenom University, the forward deserved an adjustment period. That adjustment period seems to be concluded after a good week of play at the UAA Finals in Georgia. If Nelson is able to play up to his full potential, Wisconsin Playground Black could be the Hard Work Region champs.
