Powerhouse 16 UAA was playing up in the 17U bracket and did a fairly good job. The team went 1-1, losing to a WCE squad and beating a team all the way from New Zealand. Brett Hardt Jr. played very well all day long. I also liked how much energy Ky Oliver brought to the team. He was like a spark plug and came up with some big players when they needed it most. DaRon Holmes, JT Elder, and D’Marco Dunn looked good in flashes as well throughout the day.
PHH 17u Rise won both of their games tonight by a large margin. The team is missing some key pieces as well, such as Evan Nelson, Osasere Ighodaro, Dayton Harris, and Alem Huseinovic. However, PHH Rise still had more than enough to compete and dominate. I thought Dre Henry and Logan Phillips looked very good today.
Henry runs the floor very well and had a nice soft tough around the rim. Phillips was getting buckets left and right. He shot the ball well and attacked well. He has much improved his game this summer. They are both making strides in their play. Anthony Garza, Tay Boothman, Hunter Ruck, and Brycen Long also came in and did their jobs very well! The team was just firing on all cylinders. This team is truly special and has loads of talent. Not just anyone can be missing 3 of their main pieces and still beat one of WCE’s top teams.
